Helmets New Nolan N103

I was at the hardware store today and picked up some O-rings. The thinnest cross-section available was 1/16". I got some 1/4" diam. and some 3/4" diam. When I got home, I detatched one side of the shield, dropped two of the small diam. rings on the helmet's pivot mechanism and re-installed the shield. Didn't glue them or anything, they're just floating in there. I'll see when I attain highway speeds on Friday whether that extra tension in the pivot mechanism makes it any more resistant to the wind. This is just the first test.

Ripshod,

If you find something that works, please let me know!! I will try and find the same o-rings here.

I have been using the Nolan N103 with the blue-tooth module for the past few weeks now. Just finished a ride from Minneapolis area out to Wyoming and back. Love it!! I can stream music from my HTC Touch II Windows mobile 6.1 phone via blue tooth and take/make phone calls using MS voice command. The battery in the helmet lasts for around 10 hours listening to music (I can go through almost 2 phone batteries). It will last longer if listening to music at lower volumes. That's one nice thing about the ST is the noise from the bike is very quiet so you don't have to blast it. On the way out I listened for around 600 miles on the way to Rapid City and still had battery left in the helmet and the 2nd phone battery....on the way back I must have been blasting the music a little louder becauase the Nolan battery died around 20 miles from home. The helmet runs smaller than my HJC helmet, which is a small....in the Nolan N103 I use a Medium.

You've struck gold with that one, Rayzer. I'm looking at my Sy-Max and wondering what diameter O-ring I should get. Have you done this?

No, I actually didn't, and it was ACL's idea.... he posted it elsewhere. I have since bought a new Scorpion EXO-900. Had a Nolan 102 and Symax II, and I wouldn't trade you back!!! This Scorpion is much better all around.

I bought the J&M system for the Nolan N-103. I have been to two of the large shops here in Naples that handle Nolan helmets and they have not been able to get any replacement parts except face shields and internal visors. I am going on a three week long trip at the end of this month. I will decide whether or not to keep it or after that trip. I can not stand to ride with my shield down. If I can't find a way to keep the shield in the up position the helmet will have to go. I am hoping there will be a Nolan rep at European Bike Week that I can get to work on it. JD

a riding buddy of mine just sticks an old foam ear plug on one side of the shield.

I'm coming into this thread a little bit late, but I recently shopped for a helmet to go with a Zumo 550. I tried both the Nolan N102 and N103 N-Com helmets. The N102 fit great, but the inside sun visor on the N103 hit my nose when lowered; I bought the N102.

After installing the Bluetooth module, I love it! I'm not tethered to the bike at all. After pairing the two devices, it was a learning experience to determine exactly what boot sequence resulted in reliable identification. I learned that I need to let the Zumo finish completely its boot sequence before turning on the helmet. Any other sequence results in unreliable mating of the two devices and I need to navigate the Zumo Bluetooth menu to find the existing N-Com device.
