IMG_6751.jpegI installed this last fall, had the carbs rebuilt over the winter and it’s been working fine. Yesterday coming home started crapping out coming home and next morning realized the fuel pump isn’t getting power but can’t find a fuse or relay for it even after doing some research. Verified no power by grounding test light on battery and cut the power wire and have no power there?

Fuse or bad pump relay?
I don’t know can’t find the fuse location for it haven’t had time to do much tinkering on it do you know where FP relay and fuse are?
How is the pump connected electrically, which way did you use?
Also what year and type is your bike, it would be good to put that in your profile for the future.
it’s just using the factory hot wire and ground bike is a 98 ST1100

And From what I understand this relay is propriety Honda one which makes me wonder what made it pop if that’s it haven’t had time to look at it. My joints to the fuel pump were fine nothing shorted out or anything. We’ll see soon my off day tomorrow.

OK I removed the plastic and believe I found the correct relay I will attach a few pics. I did jump the fuel pump directly to the battery so guess that would indicate my almost new FP just took a dump? But I also checked tor power to the brown wire which is the factory hot to the og pump which is still in the tank. It is grounded where factory ground was. I’m just kind of confused here?

Any ideas? So again FP doesn’t run with 12 volts to it and I also don’t have power from the factory brown hot wire which feeds the factory FP, and now my external one?

Your checking for power but are you sure you still have a good ground? I haven't read it in any post but I'm sure you know you will only have power to pump on initial key on for a couple of seconds. But 2 thing don't make add up. No power to pump and jumping pump and it not working.

You might want to disconnect the output hose from the pump and put the hose into a container and then check the pump again with a direct 12v power source and ground. See if you have fuel flowing into the container. Be very careful about sparks etc around fuel. The Fawcett pump will stop operating if the outlet builds up pressure so you have to check operation with the outlet pipe/ hose open. I have used several of these Fawcett pumps on STs and have never had any issues with them.

Yeah it’s grounded on top of the oem pump and been working fine for months. And it should cycle for a couple seconds like you said but no power to the pump? And jumpy pumpy no workie either:)
