No snow (yet) Saturday 24 January

Just past dusk here in SoMD. No snow yet but it is just to the south threatening. Thanks Keith for keeping the pot warm for me. We touched 22F/-5.5C and now slipping backwards.

We had our preview performance today, and it went pretty well with no major issues. Have to rethink a few set details, but otherwise a pretty clean run.

Tonight will be about doing little, just keeping warm and making sure the house keeps humming. Take care y'all...and I really mean it this time!

It started snowing here about 1:30 pm EST. I have a motorhome with a fully fueled 40 gallon tank for its 4,000 watt Onan genset to provide emergency power for the house. It is in position. I can't power everything, but I can power all the essentials. I have gas furnaces. I have an electric hot water heater that I can't be power, but I wrapped the 50 gallon tank so it should be warm for 5 days or so. The snow will start to turn into freezing rain early Sunday am, so I anticipate losing power at least for a while. Currently 13 degrees F; way too cold to be without heat. I was stuck without power for almost a week several years ago. Never again.

Thanks for the weather update. It hasn't yet begun here in Rockville.

How much is predicted varies by an order of magnitude, with the more alarmist source forecasting as much as 10 inches, where the one I trust more saying barely an inch. Time will tell but since nothing is expected before 0100 I'm not going to wait up. It'll all still be there when I get up, I'm sure.

My neighborhood is still broken.
Snow all 'round us but only about 1 inch of freezing rain/sleet in my immediate area and lots of snow in the immediate surrounding neighborhoods. I was prepared to sit and watch the snow late Friday afternoon thru last night, even brought in extra fahr wud (Texas pronunciation). But...this has been the weather pattern in our immediate area for the last 20 plus years, bad weather so close we can see it but we miss all the fun.
Plus side is the entertaining news....'The road is covered with snow and ice, Maud! I've got to haul a## home before I have a wreck!!!!', Episode 47.
Down side is we are getting low teen degree nights and low daytime highs for a few more days. It's so cold out this morning that the cat doesn't want out. Gotta keep the water dripping for a few more nights.
Stay warm and safe if you're in the midst of this.
