My wife and I both have Nolan N 42 helmets and like them very much. Does anyone know where we can buy liners for these helmets. I looked at the Nolan site and they sell the shields and hardware but not the liners. We have washed them a few times and are starting to fall apart.

Thanks

If your liners are falling apart I would wonder how old your helmets are. Seriously stop and ask yourself what your brains are worth? Are they worth a 5 year old helmet or a new one?

I crashed very hard this summer. I had decided to replace my 3 year old helmet shortly before. I destroyed a 2 month old helmet and still cracked my skull in 4 places. I honestly question if I would have lived had I been wearing the old one.

Helmet foam deteriorates over time. Helmets have a shelf life. I would NEVER wear a helmet that is more than 5 years old. I would rather walk or take a car.

Are your brains worth a new helmet or a new helmet liner?

Thanks for your concern Karen - My helmet is 3yrs old and my wifes is 2 years old.
We only ride 6 months of the year but average 3500 miles a month so the helmet is worn alot in a short time so we do wash it regularly.

Again - thanks for your concern.

I've got a 3 year limit on helmets, regardless of the internal/external condition, and regardless of the waranty. While I look after my kit, I know that it will still have had the odd knock and have suffered from UV rays in that time.

My time limit starts from the date of manufacture stamped inside the helmet. It's always worth checking this when you buy a new lid, as they could have sat on the dealers shelf for years.

What about chin and lower face protection with a N-42, time for more protection.

Hey, hope you're healing quickly and well Mike,
Mike and Karen, I'm not needing a helmet yet, but want to get informed prior to needing one. I've been a Shoei owner for a long time and changed to Arai with my last one. After protecting my noggin, I've usually considered quietness next in line in my choices. I just checked out Nolan's site and would think about a n 103 most likely. I'm looking at the safety (EMT access) issues and the modular looks good. How quiet are the n 103s or n 102s? Has any one compared their quietness to any other helmets?
Karen, your statement a couple of days ago really helps:

I'll be asking my wife, Loanne, to read that this evening. Thanks,
Get well Mike!:sick1:

CIMA International distributes Nolan Helmets and accessories. By the parts list I've got in front of me, the liner PN is 01-42-int-01-(size XS ->XXL) and costs $34.95. You've got to specify if you've got Velcro or snap-in cheek pads. Call 630-701-1601 or email sales@real-rider.com to order. Shipping is 3.99 for orders between $30 and 100.

That is good information. I have looked for parts for my Nolan and have come up empty (except for cheek pads). As the owner of two Nolans (N100e and N102) I'm grateful for the information. (The plastic trim at the bottom of my N102 has a crack in it (whoops), helmet has very little use. I bought new cheek pads from Whitehorse Gear to make the fit tighter.)

As far as the liner, I'm an advocate of do-rags. I used to wear my helmet without one and found that the do-rag does a great job of keeping the liner from getting stinky. The only down-side is that even a thin lining makes the helmet fit a bit tighter, so be careful wiht buying a thick do rag.

Good for you to be able to find liners at $35. In Canada they are $75 each and the US supplier will not sell them to Canadians. I even tried different motorcycle retailers in the US but none have them in stock.
I guess I will have to bite the bullet.

Thanks to everyone for your comments.
