The older I get, the better a morning without schedule sounds... :coffee:

G'Day...

-1°/10°C, 82% RH, frost and fog in the morning, bright sun for the rest of the day... ☀️

the usual routine...
ze GF leaves for work, while I'm carefully maintaining my caffeine intake... ☕

Former employer still hasn't coughed up the outstanding dough, the Chamber of Labour now drags him into curt...
Speaking of dough, first (un)Employment Service cheque came in... not much lower then prev salary... good...
Job offers/responses? Nada...
While the Federation of Industry beats the publicity drum that we all have to work till 70, no one employs you at 62... 😉

Awaiting some shipments, then ride over to my place to print, sign and scan documents/power of attorney for above legal case...
(figuring "... I can always do such at my workplace..." ze GF doesn't even have a printer nor scanner at her place...)

Plans for hiring a bike trailer (€ 180,-/week) + installing a hitch on her Skoda (1.9ltr TDI automatic) getting more concrete;
crossing the Teutonic planes* by motorcycle to get to the IJmuiden ferry port (Scotland 2027) is just too dull and mind numbing...
* I'm in full agreement with ze GF in this... and having a car with a (removable) tow bar might always come handy...

(New) Phone is almost configured to my liking, still some nicks with getting a proper document reader (*.doc, *.xls, .pdf...)
that doesn't involve a payment plan or the dreaded Office 365 Copilot dragging all my documents into the cloud... 😒

Well, on with the show...

Thx Martin, you’re totally right!

6˚c/43f, sunny, calm, another beautiful day.

Maybe a ride later, if they haven’t salted the roads….have to check before I ride.
No salty ride for me, nonono..

Yesterdays electrical inspection revealed a contact from the waterheater overheating, and a circuitbreaker that was overdimensioned..?
So I’ve ordered a certified electrical company to fix it, but it won’t happen until christmas.
Busy fu**ers.

Have a good one, stay grounded!

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the start, Martin. Looks like the "Resource Limit Reached" error I've been getting for the past two hours has gone away.

It's unseasonably, ridiculously warm in Rockville- 66°F- and cloudy after a bit of overnight shower passed through. We may get another light wetting in an hour but nothing of real significance or impact.

Mrs. Fun and crew are off to Japan this morning; I'm on airport drop-off duty. After that it's on to uke club before online bridge with relatives this evening.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the wake-up, Martin.

50/69, with a sunny afternoon, but there’s a dense fog advisory, that I verified by not being able to see the end of my driveway. So, I’m off to an early start for my twisty morning drive.

We once heard loud buzzing from an outside meter / disconnect box. When we opened it we got a nasty surprise.
The entire box was a hornets nest. The buzzing wasn't electrical at all., and we had the completely wrong type of PPE on!
It was very shocking.

Stu, you need another can for the black leg.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's sunny and 59f/15c, becoming cloudy and rainy as the temperature rises to 69f/20c, later.

The tree guy stopped by early, yesterday, and removed the dead branch that had been so concerning.
The neighbor's dog and I got out for a bit over 3.5 miles in the Outback.
I had been planning a gym visit, but plans changed and we visited the range for some pew-pew time, instead.
Dinner, then shopping at the local warehouse store for some necessities.

Today, I'll make it to the gym, and see what else happens.

Enjoy your day,
Steve

Well, that's done. I can feel my stress level dropping exponentially now that they're safely at Dulles and, more importantly, not stressing and worrying over trivialities, things far in the future, things over which they have no control, and the like.

I'll rebuild my stress level in the coming weeks, before I depart to join them.

Back from my exciting trip to town. Interesting fact is that my dash cam must have a haze filter built in, because it could see the road, where I didn’t have a clue. I was in/out early, since no one else left early to accommodate the fog.

I even spent 45 minutes, sipping a cup of expensive coffee shop coffee, waiting for some of the haze to burn off, before heading home. It burned off in town. Not so much, as I got closer to home. Reminded me of a Van Morrison song.

Morning all! Mix of blue sky and cloud as the sun struggles above the horizon. It's 9C now and a high of 12C later.

Getting ready for a hearing in Vancouver next week. We have 3 days booked but I can't see it going past a day. Huh....kinda sounds like that point in a horror movie where the clueless bugger says "Hey, there's a basement. I wonder what's down here...."

Not a bad idea to get the sparkies in Stu, always good to upgrade and make sure everything's current.

Hope everyone has a great day!

G'mornin' from SoMD! 67F/19C and cloudy here, similar to Keith. Cup #2 on its way down the main hatch. Thanks, Martin! Yes, we might finally get a little rain after over two weeks of dryness, but it doesn't look to be very much to quench the dry fall season here. I think I ran the mower once over the front lawn, used the rider just to give it some exercise and circulate fresh gas in it.

Election day here has come and gone. I worked a long day at the polls, and I think it was up there with the highest turnout I've seen for a mid-term election. Being one of the more experienced workers, I barely got time to sit and eat and I was tired and sore from standing almost all day. But I guess it's worth it to help keep our elections honest and accurate. And thankfully we had no uproars or other issues to deal with. On to 2028...

Several small things going on but mostly quiet here. Giving blood later this afternoon which reminds me to eat and take my multivitamin. And had to complete some repeated required company training. Even though it's listed as due a month from now, our sector (read division) leader decided that we should all get it done now. So made it a mandate upon us. IMO, I think they just want to look good and possibly gain their own sort of bonus from our early completion. Whatever. Meanwhile I hear rumors that somehow they don't have the meager funds in a multi-billion dollar company to afford a holiday party this year. Pathetic. I look forward to buffet-style food and the two-drink ticket as much as nobody else, but it at least lets me and the wife a chance to dress up nice and have a night out. Plus, I get to see coworkers that I don't usually see otherwise. Cheapskates.

Interesting segue...

Took a call from a recruiting agency about a job opp. In my field I've learned that they come few and far between. So, I listen when it sounds legit and something I might want to do. I'm not getting any younger, and while I like my job where I'm at the DC ratrace is stressful enough. Maybe a job away from all the a**hats might be a nice change for the calmer...hey it can't hurt to listen. The money's right and cost of living would certainly make that money go further. And as you mention @ST1100Y , they definitely discriminate on age when flipping through resumes. Do you want young or do you want experience? If you want experience, you'll have to pay for it.

Made plans for our next trip to visit the MIL over the new year. One BIL is always prodding us to go and "help" more, preferably when it suits his worldly travels. We had already committed to new year's, and am sticking to it. If he wants me there sooner, his rich-and-retired a** can pay for my expenses and time lost on my job. He has good intentions but can be a real jerk sometimes.

Not much else so I'll sign off for now. Take care y'all!

Same thing used to happen where I was employed, and I ascribed it to exactly the same thing. Each major management tier pushed up the "required" target completion date by 1 to 2 weeks, so that by the time it got to me the deadline was around Halloween, to meet end-of-calendar-year corporate schedule. Each tier also generated a "deadbeat" list and you started getting nagged weeks before the deadline, with veiled threats of "adverse consequences" for the non-compliant.

Pretty soon they'll be pushing the 2028 training, to be completed before it's even been made available.
