Um, totally screwed up on something...(dont ask..):o-o::eek:
But anyhoo, spilled oil on the rear tire of the Valk....(this has to rank as the most bonehead wrenching thing I've ever done)
Suggestions to use to clean it off?

thanks gang

I'd actually use engine degreaser and then a really good scrub down. But the burnout would be faster. I had an exciting moment on my Suzuki RF900 back in the day, had it serviced at the dealer and then headed out on a big ride. I thought the bike was being caught by a cross-wind around the first sweepers after getting off the motorway, but it turned out the oil filler cap hadn't been tighened and much of the oil had been pumped out and sprayed along/under the bike including the right side of the tyre, so I was actually getting into oily drifts. The Suzuki dealer in the next town was great, they gave me a new filler cap off another bike, and gave the bike a full degrease and water-blast and sent me on my way.

I'd use something that is mild that does not attack rubber, like dish soap in warm water and a scrub brush. A strong petroleum based thinner like brake cleaner is unlikely to damage the whole thickness of a tire, but still, we always advise against using the stuff where it might contact rubber seals (boots on the caliper sliders or piston o-rings). So why put a strong solvent on your tire? I don't know what goes into degreasers, but again, you don't want it attacking the carcass.
