Helmets Ok ! Help finding helmet sun visor.

Tired of searching just could not find it. Someone posted a link on here a while back to a small sun visor that would fit inside a full faced helmet.

It was a curved piece that clung to the liner inside the helmet at the top of the shield instead of the usual strips of clingy tinted stuff you apply to the visor.

I just can't find it now. It looked like something worth trying.

So, that is a loose piece of plastic in your helmet when you crash?

I mean I assume it sticks in the edge, but in a crash situation that looks like it is perfectly placed to damage both of your eyes?

It looks like it sticks to the liner with velcro, and it is very light and flexible. I'd be willing to bet in a crash it would stay there and if it didn't chances are good it wouldn't do any damage.

Maybe a better idea is to have one more securely fixed in place ?

I have to wear glasses in my helmet and I know that's an issue, but anything else is a concern.

I went with the material that sticks on the visor itself, mostly for that reason.

I have see a visor that sticks on the outside of the helmet (like a beak,) but never used it as I figured it would be noisy.

I have one in my HJC Symax as well as the Helmet Sun Blocker. I sometimes ride with the shield up and this little internal velcro in place visor works great. I do try to ride with the face shield down but for some reason my helmet is so much quiter with it up? Can't think that the froglidz would hurt you in crash.

I have made my own "adhere to the inside of the visor sheild" by cutting windshield tinting to fit.

The whole roll costs ~$7 and there is enough material to make dozens of them. They work well, but you have to make one for each shield. I have had them come loose occasionally due to wind pressure, presumably because I typically have the shield slightly open.

However, I have always favored a visor - but couldn't find one I liked.

I tried the SuperVisor and found (over time) it scratched the helmet from the visor sliding up and down, as well as the little mounting clips broke after a while. While the visor itself worked OK, I never liked the way it looked. I took it off when the clips broke and threw it away.

This looks to be a great solution for a reasonable price. I've ordered one to try it.

KISS -- blue 1" painter's tape. Multiple shield-width strips stored wrapped on the outside of my ibuprofen bottle, ever present in the tankbag. I like my faceshield clean-n-clear, except for when conditions absolutely require a visor effect for safety. The painter's tape is easy on and easy off. And its adhesive won't damage the shield surface, whereas something like electrical tape will (BTDT).

Just my 2?

Clement Salvadori of Rider Magazine once wrote of a little visor that he has and likes, but isn't manufactured anymore. It mounts and removes easily - has little suction cups that fasten to the inside of the shield. I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat.

Just curious why that would matter? I will not wear the Snell certified helmets DOT or ECE only for my noggin. The Snell standards make a helmmet too hard. Which may cause more problems. Most Doc say the softer shell is better for absorbing any damage.
Or buy a helmet with an internal sun visor.

Snell is ok if you hit your head on a trailer ball....5 times in a row.:D
Just a marketing ploy...get Snell and jack the prices.:flame
