Old Enough To Remember?

So, in 1988 I remodeled our house.
I made a bread box out of some Birch leftovers.
As somewhat less than a master carpenter a loaf of bread didn't fit!
Now it does, easily, and I have to dig the slices out of the toaster with a fork.

I call this the Candy Bar syndrome.
Products get smaller and smaller and sometimes smaller and more expensive.
The neighborhood store is right across the street.
I expect someday to go buy a candy bar (or ice cream bar) and pay for it and not actually get anything!

PS- the store is way to handy!

My dad had a1960 or 1961 Plymouth (with fins....) with a push button shifter like the one illustrated. 273 V8, had transmission problems as I recall as a 6 or 7 year old kid. I remember he was very unhappy with it. Traded it in for a tan1965 Plymouth Fury III station wagon that we had for 5 years.
