That's the traction problem I referred to. Learning how to get the engine to produce lots of power wasn't really that hard. Learning the science of how to get traction was much more complicated than we thought it was. It was way more involved than just a bigger set of tires.

So very true. Unfortunately it is also true that there is such a thing as to much power for the traction available. If you can't increase the latter than you need to decrease the former. Sometimes less is more.
 
She even had black spoke mag wheels and a black crinkle naugahyde interior including headliner!
And I had upgraded the windshield wipers from vacuum to electric. ;)
She was fire engine red with black inserts on the fenders.

You're talking about a reasonable/functional rear suspension mod.
I was thinking of the rust buckets with cool tires and the tall shackles that permitted you to see between the top of the rear tire and bottom of the frame. There were many more of those.1753968779055.png

So true! in the late 60s competing in local autocross with a (Frog Eye) Austin Healey Sprite, my only real competitor was a Mini Cooper.
