I remember having nothing to do at my job one day so my boss suggested I check out the new computer. It was our first PC. I scrolled around with no knowledge of what I was doing and clicked on "Format". The computer chugged for several minutes then did nothing after that. Boss have me something else to do while the computer geek reloaded EVERYTHING.

When I was new to DOS, at work every file I looked up on the PC had ".." in it. I figured it was everywhere so no harm deleting just one. Programmer and supervisor were very unhappy with me.

I did that to a work computer on purpose. I was having a persistent problem with the computer and the tech kept coming and doing whatever they do but without ever fixing the problem. He kept telling me that there is a corrupt file somewhere and that he can't find it. I got fed up and reformatted the C drive intentionally. I had been told that it can be undone if it was formatted only once so after the formatting was finished I did it again to make sure that the tech could not just un-do it leaving me with the same problem. I then called him and told him that the computer stopped working. He of course realized right away what I had done and wasn't very happy because now he had to spend several hours re-installing Windows and all of the company programs and then configure everything for the company network. I told him that he obviously was not able to fix it and that now the corrupt file will surely be gone. The computer worked fine after that.

Im old enough to remember:
transistor radios
When you couldn't use a calculator in math class
Fire alarm boxes on neighborhood corners
When you had to memorize spelling lists
When if you did something wrong you got swatted at school....and when you got home and told your parents why you got swats at school you got swatted again
When almost all motorcycles had 3 speed tank shifts and foot clutches
If someone got caught drunk driving, the Police would make you park your car and then drive you home
and you got in trouble when you counted with your fingers slap with a yard stick
