I remember them being called "necking knobs." One hand on the wheel, the other around my girl.

Which makes me stop and think... I dont think there are many, if any vehicles with a bench seat any more that will let you cuddle while you drive.

Those were called spinners originally, I think... had wooden knobs and found on old farm tractors. In the 60's the plastic ones came along to put on your car's steering wheel.
