The Nikwax or CampDry or other waterproofing stuff didn't help? Or not enough?

No it didn't help, Dennis. The real test of it was when we went to NS/PEI last august and spent a day up through Pennsylvania in rain. We were both soaked. Scotchguarded both jackets before we left.

Don't get me wrong, I like the AST a lot. It has some very nice features. It's just not an all weather jacket, in my opinion. In other words, it's not a jacket I would leave home with again without a rain suit packed.

My AST was waterproof even through all-day rain, until I washed it and waterproof-sprayed it. Then it leaked through the elbow of the right arm and a little at the chest on the left.

I sprayed it some more and have only been able to test it in a 1 hour rain ride, but it was waterproof...for that duration. I haven't had another day long in the rain to test it again.

Tor, you have to consider Aerostichs carefully; they take all the fun out of shopping. After buying one, you won't be in the market for a suit or jacket for another 15 years!
