Mellow, thanks for bumping this thread I never knew it was here and I joined this site after the post before yours was created.
I live in a city that hired an artist to create giant chicken eggs decorated like Easter eggs but with different themes for different holidays and aspects of local culture. These eggs are about 4 feet tall and as wide as a washing machine. There are a dozen of them around my town some on private property but always highly visible from the road or sidewalk.
In the next two towns to the east of me there is a 20 foot long tiger, a mascot for the local college athletic team, and the next town over from that there is a 15 foot tall rabbit on a pedestal.
The city where I go to church features the head of a giant milk cow at a dairy warehouse. That head's gotta be at least 10 feet across.
If I travel 100 miles to north into the southern edge of North Carolina there's a Harley-Davidson affiliated bike accessory and apparel store that has a giant motorcycle out front-- we're talking 5 foot tall mining company tractor wheels on it, a gas tank the size of a 55 gallon drum (but shaped like a real motorcycle fuel tank).
