I have just purchased a decommissioned 2015 ST1300P .. All the lights, sirens ,radio,s etc have been removed and various parts of the wiring have been cut off.
My questions are 1. Can I remove the police wiring with out causing issues with the rest of the bike ?
There is a small Honda key in left fairing and I only have one . The way it works is when the small key is switched off the bike will still run but as soon as its put in gear the engine cuts out as if the sidestand is down . This has been connected into the sidestand switch loom under the left side panel but it must also be getting a signal via the neutral light somehow. I think as an antitheft device its useful but only having one key I would like to understand how to bypass if required.

That's a runlock. Some UK ST1100s and ST1300s had it, but not all, and the ones on the ST1300s were keyless - the function was built into the digital HCU on the left handlebar and worked as shown below.

Honda didn't supply specific P models to the UK; they were converted from civilian models (here, Sonic converted the majority). I suspect that may also be the case with NZ too, or at least you may have a P spec with some extra bits. Any labels anywhere (like this) with the name of a converter and job number?

Unfortunately I have never seen any wiring diagrams that include the runlock. How to decommission yours depends on who made that conversion (those are certainly not Honda connectors). Although chances are slim, it might be that your system is similar to the one that Sonic in the UK fitted to the ST1100. If you can't determine who fitted yours you could email Sonic and ask for wiring advice. info@sonic-comms.com

Or look at the terminals on the lock assembly. Can terminals be bridged so that the key doesn't need to be used?

Know of three local ex UK police ST1300s and they are all ST1300AP models.

What Sonic did was fit the UK specific items such as the rear display and UK police radio.

And pretty much everything else on the ST1100, which I'm using as a potential parallel for the runlock wiring for Biggo, since a UK ST1300 won't have a keyed type like his.
