the other replacement set from Louis is now suddenly in back-order... pfffff... :cautious:

It might pulse, but it's thick enough. Which matters more to the inspector: numbers or performance? Yes, I know you know the correct answer.

18C here, headed to 25. It was a cage day due to the rain. Just light now and I could have ridden in, but it's supposed to become heavy later. And no, not heavy water as in D₂O.

It's not raining right now, but we had plenty yesterday.
It's currently cloudy, with rain in the vicinity. Rain is predicted off and on until noon, then just cloudy.
Temperature is 63, rising to 70, with 10-15 mph wind.

The gym went well, yesterday, and I went on to recycle my old phone at Staples. On the way home, I stopped at Walmart for some breakfast items.
Along the way, I totally missed that I was supposed to work at the track, until my new phone reminded me. With all the rain I think I dodged a bullet.

Today, I'll head over to the gym and to PT for my achilles.
Brenda's former bosses father passed away, and she'll attend his calling hours, tonight.

Thanks for the start, Martin. Good luck getting the brake disc issue resolved.

It's a pleasant-enough 68°F and sunny in Rockville, with humidity at a level where there's heardly any dew on the grass, Is it really summer here? Mostly sunny with a high around 84 is what we're told to expect.

I've a periodontist appointment in an hour- she'll expose the implant she buried in my jaw a couple months ago, so that my dentist can install the permanent crown in a couple weeks. Oddly to me, when my wife went through this process our general dentist handled the whole deal, no periodontist needed. I'm different, apparently, which makes me "special".

After the dental fun I'll head for the music store to play uke for a couple hours. This evening it'll be online bridge with the usual relatives.

What a rich, full life I lead, no?

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Throughout my young life, newspapers have always run one or more daily comic strips about life as a worker bee.
Only now, there are fewer daily papers, and fewer newspapers overall.
Roz is upstairs in bed, doom scrolling... because my phone just notified me she posted on farcebook.
But I can't really say too much about that, as I'm in st-owners and ADVrider every day.

But, let's face the reality... the denizens of our little corner of the interwebs are exceedingly more intelligent, witty, funny, and wise.
And some here are actually skilled with tools.

The rain never came back after yesterday's morning drizzle -- the weather liars tricked me again.
No rain scheduled for today, so I guess that means we'll get soaking, dripping wet on the way home this afternoon.
What can ya do?
Tomorrow the radiator hoses are to arrive for the Element, but it's slated to rain all day Saturday.
No room in the garage to work on it... but I can't push it in there, even if i had the space.
And I still need to buy a new battery.
But my Black Rifle is still delicious.

LATE EDIT! - both plugs in Roz' tire are still holding all the air in, 24 hours later. I DID change her donut for the fixed one before I left for work.
The little wins occasionally keep us trying to do stuff.

Morning Martin & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 67F, heading for 93F. Yesterday's thunderstorm left us 0.18" of rain. We'll take it. Of course, with the heatwave coming in for the weekend, any signs of the rain will be gone! And, although the weather guessers have scheduled another thunderstorm for this afternoon, I doubt if we will see it. Time will tell. :well1: There's no breeze now, but later the winds will be out of the WSW @ 10 to 16mph.

Yesterday's storms caused all kinds of issues around. Besides the truck that was hit by lightning, there was some flash flooding all around the state.

Today (and well into next week), it should be too hot to be outside for any long periods of time. I do have some running around once I get going, but any work done, will be in the garage.

Once Chris wakes up, we'll have something to eat. Pepsi(s) of course will be on the menu for later.

Pulses in your arteries are good, not so much in your brakes. I was actually looking for front rotors online, and now that you mention your issues with eBay purchases if gives me pause to go that route. But I may not have a choice.

It's WFH today, and before I logged in I went and picked up a freebie mower from someone who bought one of mine. You know, you can tell a few things about people just my how their eqpt looks and works. Let's just say this guy, knowing he's a police officer, doesn't have much time to care for or even think about mower maintenance. Not judging bc otherwise EVERYONE that I've picked up eqpt from would be guilty. And I was too until mine once stopped working. Difference was I was too cheap to buy a new one curious as to why it stopped working. I know car maintenance, so how hard could a mower be? Anyhow, it needs lots of TLC and some brackets straightened, but should be salvageable. I don't like the thought of them ending up in the landfill...at least not yet.

Tonight is rehearsal. And who knows what else. I don't think that far ahead, I'm not a chess player. Even checkers is a struggle. Take care y'all!

I'm in search for about two years now...

LHS P/N 45351MT3000 was avail for a while because it was also used on the CB750... RHS P/N 45251MT3000 discontinued/unavail for quite some time though...
(mind that for the ABS-II/CBS the 295mm rotors are widely avail, even aftermarket in proper OEM design...)

Found some used OEM on eBay, listed for ['90~'01 ST1100], looking really nice, 4.8mm each... nah, turned out to be the small, 295mm ones for ABS-II/CBS... :confused:
(dunno why folks never realized that there were 4 different models and 3 different brake systems... 🙄)

Trying to compromise between halfway attractive, affordable and short delivery, I then tried an aftermarket kit from eBay (front and rear) over rather good feedback, and actually being listed as 316mm...

slapped them on, paper shims, proper torque, etc...
by the time I'd crossed town to ze GF's place, I noticed the significant pulsing upon stopping, the last 4~3 turns of the wheel actually 'work' the front suspension... 🙄
at the shed last night, re-checking all and everything, visually with unarmed eye the rotors appear true, no warping or radial bounce noticeable (attaching a pencil to the fork bottom and rotating the wheel...)
I overhauled the pins of the calipers again, even installed new rubber inserts, red grease, etc... no change...
So IMO it must be something with the cut, resulting in varying thickness, causing that pulsing (or vibration when applying brakes at 75mph...)
Already messaged the seller... we'll have to see about the response...

Due timing issues (need to get that '94 through the MOT) I'd ordered another set at Louis early this week... which showed [in stock] at first, but now is suddenly in back-order... :cautious:

So now I have one set of OEM rotors I keep swapping between the two bikes... :mad:
 
Morning all! Sunny with some high cirrus cloud heralding rain in a day or two I expect. I know nothing about meteorology but am batting about the same percentage prediction wise as the folk that do. Currently 16C here with a predicted high of 21C to come.

Working from home again because things have slowed down and I don't see the logic of commuting to sit in an office and not be busy. I can do that from home just fine :D.

We're about to be inundated with house guests for much of August and into September. That means sorting out sleeping arrangements and bedding....well, standing by while said logistics are organized and then moving things and putting stuff where the plan dictates.

Hope everyone has a great day and avoids getting three sheets to the wind.....like actual sheets to wind.....darn clotheslines.....
 
It seems there's quite a difference between mechanical issues and psychological issues. The latter can be remedied by going for a motorcycle ride. The former, those can require special skills and tools. Couple of weeks ago, I attempted to use my 25 year old Stihl trimmer to clean up some bamboo weed growth. It has a triple set of metal blades, and is quite aggressive. Hard to start, ran briefly, quit and wouldn't restart. The tech at the small engine shop said compression below spec. and parts no longer available. I looked online, ordered a pair of piston rings, a week and a half later, I had new rings - from Germany! The afore-mentioned tech installed rings, tuned carb, and now it runs perfectly.
On another note, the front forks on the '90 VFR 750 would thump on bumps, so I asked a trusted tech for advice. He noted seals weren't leaking. Told him I had changed fork oil, he asked how much had I put in. Although I couldn't remember exactly, (turns out when I looked in my garage, I'd used most of a one litre bottle) he said based on the thumping, it wasn't enough. So now, I've unscrewed one fork cap, added 50 ml of ATF, but now struggling to get that spring pushed down and the threads of the cap started. grrrr....
Late edit - completed the addition of 50 ml to each fork, went for a test ride. Very noticeable improvement, but not quite perfect. I'll do it again tomorrow!
