I tried it out, I really like it.

I DO NOT receive any "Royalties" from any shades sold.

I was on eBay a couple of months back when I saw a 3D printed XT GPS lock. I figured I could modify it to use with my current shade. When I gave my review, the creator contacted me and asked why I needed to modify it, and I explained I was going to modify my 3D shade, that I had picked up a year or two ago.

He then sent me a couple of pictures of a Shade-lock he was working on. I was impressed, but felt the shade was too big. He cut the shade down and sent me one to try out.

To mount the GPS, you slide it up, connecting the bottom lip first, then push the top and it locks, just like it did with out the Shade-Lock.

There is a slot on the top that you use the provided "Key" (or just use your motorcycle key) to unlock the GPS Mount, by pushing down. And the GPS slides right out.

Even though they are 3D printed, they are nice quality, unlike most of the 3D printed stuff I've seen.

If anyone is interested, here is the XT Shade-lock:

And the XT2 Shade-lock:

I just have my GPS mounted on my tankbag. I'm sure the Shade would fit most places, mounted.

Does the shade make that big of difference? I bought an XT in the off season and haven't gotten it installed yet. I have a 665 and never really felt the need for one for it. I printed the visor for the XT that's available from thingiverse to try, but my dog took it off my desk and munched it up lol. I threw the base plate in tinkercad and put a security slot in it also, so you'd have to use the a key to unlock it to avoid a "quick" walk by theft.

I also printed a bumper from TPU for it as well.

For me it does. Of course, if the Sun is behind you, nothing will help.

I really like the idea of the shade having a way to block the release. And using your key to release it through the slot, doesn't take that much effort.

I guess I'll reprint the part that was used as a chew toy and have it ready to try
