Progressive Motorcycle Insurance

Okay, one last post for tonight. I did some checking. I've never heard of Dairyland insurance till today. So my quote in comparing them to Flo was $130 less for an annual payment. After the accident and seeing the financial fallout from that, I generally go for max coverage so I made sure I was comparing apples to apples.

$130 is significant. For $50 I probably wouldn't change. For that much...I'm seriously thinking about it.

His advice...regularly shop for insurance. About every 2 years was his advice.
Same as with cell service providers, internet providers, cable TV providers, etc., etc.. It seems that only new customers get good pricing. Unless you are willing to keep changing providers and become a new customer every few years you end up paying more than you should.

I have to keep reminding myself that insurances companies are in it for maximizing their profits not taking care of the policy holders ... :doh1:
Parr: "We're supposed to help people!"
Huph: "We're supposed to help OUR people! Starting with our stockholders!"

From 'The Incredibles', one of my favorites!

I switch insurance companies every year or two, otherwise my rate gets insane. I also never file a claim u less I really need to, it's just not worth it. If insurance wasn't legally required I'd likely run without it in my bike. I've never been on the winning side of the insurance game.

Dairyland was the insurance my local Honda dealer sold when i bought my first bike on 5/25/73.
So long ago... pretty sure that was how I bought Dairyland from the Suzuki dealer, that same year.
Because I couldn't afford the Honda CB-750/4. It was 20% more money for a struggling high school kid.
1973 Suzuki GT-550, looks just like mine but not mine. I added a nice white Windjammer III fairing to the one I had... Birmingham to Orlando, Orlando to New London CT, New London to Norfolk VA, etc., etc.

I had an insurance issue that surprised me. I drive a company vehicle. A few years ago I was hit in a parking lot when someone backed out quickly without looking. I was surprised that my personal car insurance raised my rate because of the accident. The accident was not my fault and I guess somehow insurance companies monitor claims made even from other insurance carriers.

Don't get me started about homeowners insurance. I live in California fairly close to where a couple of major fires occurred a few years back. And more recently with the large fire losses down in southern California - insurance costs have gone out of site. My homeowners insurance was about 90 dollars a month and is now approaching 1200 dollars a month - it now is higher than my mortgage. It is difficult to even fine any company to get homeowners insurance from in my area.

Great bikes - I was a mechanic at a Suzuki dealership back in the 1970's.

I had no money back in those days, but I could still dream and drool. I loved the lines on it. In my mind, it was the perfect motorcycle, ...and why would anyone even bother with making anything else? :)

Wow, Chuck.
You really ARE old.
And here, all this time, I didn't believe you. :)
I thought he just rented all those classic automobiles from way back then to put in the background on those pics.

We were bundled with State Farm for over 30 years. Homeowners, 2 cars, and 3 motorcycles. A few claims over the years on all 3 with only two crashes(1 car & 1 MC). Just got dropped last November from all 3 policies with a call from the agent that they expired 2 days previous and will not renewed. We scrambled for coverage and were taken in by Progressive over the phone.
