I bought a Adaptiv Radar Detector earlier this year and for the first couple of months there wasn't much to report. Lately I have been getting Ka band alerts and I figured out that it's doing it when a semi approaches on a two lane highway. Not all semis do this, but it's increasingly happening. I'm running the detector in Highway NoX, NoK mode. It alerts that a Ka signal is detected. Stops immediately after passing the semi.

Any idea what's up? I used to get farm equipment setting it off, but that was always X band.

I use the Uniden R4 but haven't notice that for KA... I'll need to pay attention more.

The K goes off a lot or Mazdas and Hondas with their radars. The Hiway Radar app allows you to turn off certain KA frequencies as well but I just haven't gotten into that. I know it's irrelevant as it only works wth a couple of Radar detectors.

You'd have to see what actual KA frequency they're using in order to see about isolating/blocking it.

Most (Honda Mazda Freightliner) adaptive cruise control runs at 76 to 77 gigahertz freq. A harmonic freq of 77 (half) would be 35 ghz. Right in the center of the Ka band which is 33.4 to 36 ghz.

(my guess is) Ya'lls detectors are just too good picking up transmitted harmonics.

FYI, my $30 Walmart Cobra detector which (low key (haha)) works real good does the same thing.
