that's pretty strange given that it sounds like you've tried a fair variety of beers. German "white" beer and dark beer have completely different flavors. You didn't mention IPAs, I'd be curious if those also tasted the same to you.funny, I'm one of those who thinks all beer tastes exactly the same. No matter how often someone says "my X beer" is good it tastes better than the others, I take a sip and to me it just tastes like "beer". My daughter tried to convince me her "caramel" beer tasted like caramel. So I took a sip. No, it didn't, it tasted like beer. The white beer and the dark beer I tried sips of when we went to Germany tasted like "beer". Guess I don't have a discerning pallet.
Yea I don't know what an IPA is, so can't say that I have ever tried any. I would, but I'm guessing it tastes like beer lolthat's pretty strange given that it sounds like you've tried a fair variety of beers. I just can't get over the taste, or should I say lack of taste of so called American beer and to a lesser extent, imports.
Yes you are correct. Yes there are a myriad of craft beers out there. I don't think I will live long enough to try them all, but a good German Pilsner from the local brewery is always a safe bet for me. Along with a real Austrian Wiener Schnitzel at a local Gasthaus. Everybody's palate is a bit different<??? confused ???>
this was true maybe 30 years ago, but today there are so many craft beers available in the U.S. that it makes my head spin when I go out for a beer.
Maybe by "so called American beer" you're referring to the Coors/Bud/Miller offerings. If so, then your statement is true, but they represent a tiny fraction of the American beer spectrum.

besides not having a taste for alcohol I'm a real picky eater. When my wife and I went to Europe to do an Edelweiss Tour I was afraid I wouldnt find anything to eat. The first night in Germany I took my wife to Burger King for dinner lol. She said she didnt come all the way to Germany to eat at Burger King. So the next night we went to the Marien Platz ( sp?) And went to an outdoor diner. When we walked in I looked around for a kid and saw a boy about 8 eating. When our waitress came over I asked if she spoke English which she did. I asked her what the boy was eating. She said Weiner Snitzel and pom fritas. I asked what that was and she said a bread pork patty and french fries. Perfect. And for the next 9 days whenever I had to buy my own meal, thats what I ordered lol. My wife who is adventurous would just point at something in German on the menu and say I'll try that. Sometimes she liked what they brought her, sometimes she didnt lol. I liked mine every time!Yes you are correct. Yes there are a myriad of craft beers out there.
