I take it the g/y connections are for brake light and bl/br is running lights and then g is ground.

Agree ?

g/y go to the rear brake light switch, so that’s brake light and green is ground which leaves bl/br as running lights by default. Is the way I see it.

Correct. Honda has used the same colors for decades.

Black w/brown is tail/running lights, gauges, etc.
Green w/yellow is the brake lights.
Solid green is the ground.

A useful clue is that all of those bulbs come on / off in different circumstances, yet all have one wire in common. Green.

It’s a tad confusing in the Uk, as G/Y is the wire that is used for earth in household mains electricity wiring. I always have to double check.
