rear caliper mounting

Yep - I've done the ST1300 answer for the ST1100 question. The same logic applies though. I used to insert the stopper bolt loosely and tighten the axle bolt first, and it was pointed out that was wrong. So I tried to work out why it was wrong. The above is the reason that I came up with - tightening the axle while the stopper bolt is still able to rock on its threads - casues the issue that I described.

Update have rear caliper stop bolt on the way got Lucky a guy at Motorcycle parts place usually only sells new parts has box of Goldwing parts & apparently it's the same bolt used cheap at €25 delivered compared to €55 New Also I Believe the Honda VT 1100 uses same bolt!

Bolt fitted ok
 
From your photograph, it looks like the caliper bracket isn't positioned properly

The elongated hole in the bracket - circled in blue should be positioned in line with the inside of the bracket on the swing are - circled in red. Te get it into that position, the axle nut has to be slack and the bracket can be rotated around the axle until the two are in line. THen the stopper bolt has to be fitted and tightened

Then the axle bolt has to be retightened.

The elastics ? I don't know about them - what are they doing there ? Holding the brake lines up ? Pass

Thanks figured it out when got new to me bolt ordered from a Goldwing fitted fine. Bungee cords holding break line aright, when googled says torque stopper bolt last
