If you go through Lindemann Engineering, and agree to display their sticker, that price will go down. Lindemann has sold quite a few Penske shocks for the ST, so they know what you need.

I sent a request on the Hyperpro. Do they all come in the ugly purple?
 
Another option, less expensive , is the RaceTech rebuild of your existing shock. Around $400. I have it and I am very happy with it. The new spring is sexy red, not purple :)

You are talking about an OEM rebuild, right? I had understood it was not serviceable and just threw mine away.

Does the $400 includes the Spring?

At how many miles did you have yours rebuilt?
 
I cannot do without my shock to take it off, send it to be rebuilt, and then shipped back. Maybe if it were winter though.

Landon my Hyperpro spring is black you don't have to have the purple. I got the shock and fork springs for $960 from EPM in NJ. Nice people there. Talk to Klaus.

My OEM had 60,000 miles on it. Not serviceable according to honda, but race tech takes it (any condition) puts a new valve in it, new oil (very important, that is why the shock deteriorates, the oil breaks down) new spring (optional)
The $400 included the spring, but I had a discount.

Any trashed EM shock is valuable, worth at least $100 to someone who wants to remove their OEM and send it to racetech, so they will at least be able to ride the bike when the shck is being rebuilt.
 
So I assume the new spring is heavier than stock and is the valving much different?

Yes, the new spring is heavier, as I am heavier than your average Japanese test rider. How different is the valving? it is hard to say. There is a great improvement, but that is over a worn out shock. I was not that unhappy with the stock ST shock when my bike was brand new, so I would not say it is a fantastic improvement over new, just somewhat of an improvement. As a point of comparison, I had an Ohlins shock on my ST1100. Not as good as that. Man, that was a shock. I am happy with what I have done, I needed to do SOMETHING, could not afford the penske, this was an excellent compromise, but I am not going to say it is the same or just as good as a high end aftermarket shock.

You found an Ohlins for the 1100? Couldn't get one for the 1300, unless forking out an outrageous customization fee!
