Refilling Rear Brake - the Reservoir stays full

I just replaced the rear brake caliper on my ST1100 ABS

I filled up the reservoir with that fluid but fluid will not feed into the master cylinder and the system. If I pump the brake pedal no air seems to be forced out of the bleed nipple and fluid doesn't want to run into the cylinder

Not being a mechanical whiz I wondered if it might be something obvious I'm missing

Any ideas or help would be appreciated
 
Is the ST1100 a linked system? You could be bleeding off the front system, check that level.
 
I believe the 1100 ABS is similar to the 1300... don't think its just that simple as pumping the rear as it's only part of the system
