My go to summer gloves are...were...Cortech Impulse RR gloves. They are a touring glove suitable for the track. Knuckle protection, perforated for breathability. Full gauntlet.

They have been discontinued...and the replacements have also been discontinued. Any suggestions? Full gauntlet is a must.

Thanks,

:D I was thinking of some duct tape. I have some that's really heavy duty. :D

I took them to a cobbler. He wanted $40 to patch that open area at the wrist. Since then, I've noticed the material in that area is just disintegrating. Look at the middle picture towards the top and you'll see it. I'm not sure the Shoe Goo would have anything to hold onto if I went into a slide. But it is a thought.

Interested in guys posts on this... I struggle big time finding gloves that are comfortable. Online buying is not going to get it.

I tend to go to Amazon. Yeah, I don't like making Bezos any richer, but I do like hassle free returns. Cycle Gear is convenient too. Order two helmets if you're not clearly in the range for size and return the one that doesn't fit.

I have always had good luck with Held gloves.
This looks like something that suits your needs.

Those are some gloves. Did I see them in any of the Marvel Superhero movies?

Once leather work gloves tend to start falling apart there is nothing that can be done to save them. I think that is the case with your gloves. Based on the work I've seen local cobblers do for me that are not sole replacement, I'd never take them something off the beaten track that requires care and skill to repair. If you want to have them repaired, try a leather smith (if you can find one) or maybe someone who makes holsters or tack for horses.

I like Lee Park's gloves, tho Held is also held in high regard (grin!!!!). Held's glove pattern does not fit me, my palm is large and my fingers short.

I received an empty package from amazon today.

I was fortunate to have a Revzilla near me and had 6 pairs of medium weight and light weight gloves on the table, I tried them on and walked around, bought two pairs then and a third online for a lower cost ( I liked them less). Did the same with a helmet... I wouldn't do this to my local guy, but an huge company I have not much sympathy for.

Short of going to a bricks and mortar store or a rally with a vendor, online is the only other choice (ok, at a STOC event you might try other guy's gloves on for size). I found AeroStitch and Lee Parks will pay for return shipping if you are not happy with the fit...or are not completely satisfied.

There is this one that looks similar on Revzilla:

There is also a used set on evil-bay in large (they are blue) if you had interest in the exact same item you have.

Thanks! I ordered a pair of the Cortech Revo RR V2 gloves. The look like the second generation of the Impulse RR gloves. Nice protection with some ventilation for summer use.

The guy on evil-bay (that's a good name!) is asking more for used gloves than the new ones. I think I paid $70 for mine. I'll pass.

I have always had good luck with Held gloves.

These look like excellent gloves! Thanks!

One day I looked around and realized I had a lot of Cortech gear. My tank bag is by Cortech. The Impulse gloves are by Cortech and I have a few other items that are from them. They make good quality gear for a reasonable price. Pair their products up with Olympia gear and you end up with some excellent kit.

I have never had a full gauntlet. Do they act as wrist brace of sorts? Obviously there is more protection, but are there any other pros and cons? I was thinking they might interfere with wrist travel on the throttle and generally be more cumbersome than "normal" gloves. I usually go for as much air flow as possible, but I am curious now if I am doing it wrong. :roflmao:

I have the air stream and the desert II gloves.. love them both.

The Air streams are more of a full gauntlet that works better with your sleeves inside.. on a slide it's less likely to pull your sleeve open and expose part of your arm...

The desert II gloves are kinda mid gauntlet but thin in that area so easier to get those inside your sleeve.. that gives you the option of opening up your sleeve to get some air flow.

Both are incredibly comfortable and good for summer riding.

I am a bit of a glove whore. I probably have north of a dozen pair (Can't pass up a good glove sale!:)). Gloves are a bit like helmets in that the fit is very important as well. Since your hands are the first thing to hit the ground (in a lot of cases) and then slide, it is not a place to have price enter the picture too much IMO.
