Roadskin jeans

Yeah, who here.. plans to go down?😂
I do agree, Florida makes that a challenge, go down scrape up? Go down because I passed out from heat?! lol!!

Dave, Roadskin jeans are Kevlar and armored.

@Ndfrc: If you are planning on going down, best to wear full gear - just ask @Uncle Phil.
Yes, I perused their website before posting my opinion. I’ll add another objection. Aramids are affected by UV exposure and can rapidly lose strength without visible changes to material appearance. In DuPont’s data specification sheet it specifically warns against storing Kevlar within a few feet of windows and not under certain types of fluorescent lighting. In a public forum discussion years ago with a man that owned a company that sold Kevlar woven apparel he took issue with the UV degradation problem and he said the aramid fibers were weaved into the synthetic cloth in a way that protected the aramid fibers from the sun. The material was an open mesh. Apparently he thought the mesh could pass air but not sunlight. To that I posted DuPont’s MDS and he stopped participating in the discussion.

Mesh Riding pants, at least there is armor at knees and hips.
And I was wearing mesh riding trousers when the deer took me out at 75 mph.
There were a few small burn throughs but then I slid 50 to 100 feet.
No road rash to mention.

Kevlar loses tensile strength due to UV exposure. Does that affect abrasion resistance? I'm not sure but I would think it would require 2 different testing methods to find out.

I personally prefer cotton to polyester or whatever. I feel like I'm sweating in those others even not moving. Mesh is okay though I still feel like I'm wearing a tent. I absolutely do armor/inserts vice interwoven. I've gone down only once (knock on wood) and it saved me from any rash.

Agree, I bought me a pair, we’ll see.
What gets me through, is now that I know a lot more about what protection means for a rider, well it scares the crap out of me that I ran so many years, really with only regards just to a helmet, sometimes. Shew.
