Rocket 3 and Tiger 1200

Was that the new Tiger? I need to go ride one. My dealer has a couple rocket demos for sale. Good looking bikes!
 
Tiger is a '22 model, first I've ridden, I'm tall and I could barely reach the ground LoL
 
My brother was just looking at a Rocket 3. (Currently rides a T-120 Bonnie). He said it oozed excess lol

Fun fact each piston on the current Rocket 3 has more displacement than all 3 cylinders combined on my old 1969 BSA Rocket 3

I really like the new Tiger. I was wondering if it would've been a better investment than the Trophy I bought instead. Not to down play my '04 ST1300 but the Trophy was certainly more comfortable for longer durations especially on my recent trip to Newfoundland (8000 klms). I was one-up with luggage on the TES suspension setting. Really smooth.
I just wish Honda had come out with an improved ST. My pocket wasn't deep enough for a newer Gold Wing (ST1800). It's too much bike I think too.IMG_20220501_194838_01.jpg
 
I wish they still made the Trophy. I have a 2017. That was the last year they made them. I sure like it. I wish Honda would updated the ST with the options the Trophy has. I still have my 2007 ST. 16 years of trouble free enjoyment.

What does the Trophy do better than the ST. I had a 2000 1200 4cyl Trophy for a while, and always wanted to try the triple. My 1050 Sprint has me smiling every time I ride it. I do an occassional ride with some locals on a 17 1200 Tiger, an 18 1200 Tiger and a later ? Sprint, they all love them. These latest versions, both 900 and 1200 sure are tempting.
 
A very high percentage of Triumph parts are now made and imported from Taiwan and China might upset the applecart if they follow in Russia's footsteps...

Best to stick with Jap. ;)
 
I really wish Honda would update the ST, 1500cc, 6 speed, modern electronics, but keep styling the same (I personally think it's one of the best looking of any bikes)

The Trophy has electronic suspension, factory cruise, better gas mileage, handles better, tire pressure monitor, radio and faster. Will it be as reliable as the ST? Probably not. Time will tell. But I’m going to enjoy it for now.
I bought a 2015 Tiger 800 XCX new and had the suspension set up for me from Mike’s Dirt Bike Suspension. He is retire now. That bike is amazing to ride! And the new 900 and 1200 tigers are supposed to just blow mine away in every way. Probably a good idea I have no more room in my garage.

Time will tell. I had a problem on my trip to Newfoundland this summer. There was a power problem and sometimes the SiruisXM radio wouldn't work. Also one TPMS sensor was giving trouble. Upon my return the battery tested as faulty, so low power. I'm just assembling some parts to begin servicing the bike. We had a very busy fall and just stored the Trophy like I've done with my ST's in the past. On a smart charger in the same garage as our cars. The only thing I do is run the engine every few weeks up to temp (rad fan kicks on). I've had no problems with my Hondas since my return to riding in 2012.
I purchased the 600+ page service manual for the Trophy. I've printed off a few sections I'll be servicing starting next week. Kinda wish I owned a lift.
To add to an earlier question, the Trophy handles better than the ST. More solid on the highway and in the wind. A little better protection from elements as well. I have most of the options on my 2015 SE except heated seats and built-in Zumo. I also Honda had made the upgrades to the ST too.
I will update later on this Triumph and hopefully it will be as reliable as the ST without alot of $$.

P.S. One thing discovered is brake rotors are cheaper for the Trophy ($300) than the ST ($700). :oops:
