I’m not tired.
I’m held together by enough caffeine to not become a public incident... :coffee:

G'Day...

22°/29°C, mostly sunny, haze, feeling kinda soggy at >60% RH... 🌅 🌥️⛅🌤️ 🥵

Nespresso at ze GF's place... ☕

By now Pawlow's cat has perfectly conditioned itself to associate my phone alarm with "food!"... what else?... :cautious:
The very second the pings go off the lamenting starts and she darts upstairs to make absolutely sure that I
a) get up! RIGHT NOW!...
b) don't divert even an inch on my way from bed straight to the feeding grounds...

but felines seem to suffer genuine dementia...
after i.n.h.a.l.i.n.g. half of that obviously delish 'cat soup menue', she again rubbed on my legs complaining...
sipping my coffee I denied, urging her to finish the rest, upon which she darted upstairs to bug ze GF still in bed... who very audible shooed and hissed her away... 😁
obviously frustrated that cat trotted downstairs again, sat her butt right in the center of the room, blinked at me and sighted heavily... :roflmao:

yes, the world is a bad place... and highly unfair... ;)

commute across town on the ST... 20 minutes vs >40 minutes by car... 😎

office Nescafé... ☕

in the office across the hallway another 'reenacting of the civil war' conducted by angry toddlers and hysterical dogs takes place... :cautious:
I better stay out of it... <slurp!> dang! I'm out of coffee!

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Martin.

It's a cloudy, humid 71°F in Rockville, where we received a bit more than an inch of much-needed rain overnight. Today's high will be just 79- a welcome respite from the recent tripe-digit highs- but with the humidity it'll feel like 90. Yesterday's round of goof tells me what to expect: it was only 80 or so when I finished yet I was absolutely wringing wet, as if I had been swimming.

I ought to get out for a ride this morning- I really should- but I just don't feel like I have the oomph. Maybe I'll make a run to the outdoor gear store, to look for a replacement sleeping pad. Despite having been sent back for repairs at least once already, the Therm-A-Rest I've got now has a slow leak and deflates after two hours or so. A foldable, non-inflating type might be a better option. I'll see what's available. That ride would at least get me 12 miles, more if I feel energized and take an indirect route one way or the other.

I'll see my cardiologist this afternoon for a routine, scheduled visit. Maybe I'll tell him about the upcoming bike trip, but does he really need to know about it?

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee, Martin.

It's 61 and raining, and it'll rise to 65 with more rain predicted for the day.
I had a window cracked open for the cats, so I had to clean up the water. She never told me about it!

Yesterday's meeting with the other grands got off to an inauspicious start, when the restaurant we chose was closed. Plan B was a bust as well, but the Plan C place worked out nicely. We had a nice lunch and visit, before returning home and FIFA.
We got to see Spain win, and the US lose. It turns out that Belgium didn't have to worry about suspended red card guy.

Today, I'll head out for a haircut, and to the audiologist for my hearing aids to be paired to the new phone. We were supposed to meet at a friend's house for a First Tuesday BBQ, but that is postponed until tomorrow.

Enjoy your day,
Steve

Thanks for the coffee Martin, and the starving cat fairytale. They lie, it's a myth that they are really hungry -- it's simply a feline mind-trick in an attempt to manipulate you.
Why do they do this?
For the same reason scammers send rich Nigerian prince and 'send us money or the IRS will come arrest you' emails... because some people still fall for it. At 6am, a full hour before their regular feeding time, all four of Roz' cats are in the kitchen to be fed... 2 of them with accusing, "don't you feel guilty?" stares, and the other 2 pacing and yowling in harmony like street performers.
Pictures below because your post was heavy on my mind when I went to pour my first cup.
Other than that, I have to find a way to strap a floor fan on the bike to take to work... I would rather not hook up the trailer for this thing.
We have a classroom that we rent out, and an RN sometimes teaches CPR classes for extra income. The a/c went out yesterday and hasn't come back, and Jenny is teaching a class this morning.
Being mid-summer, our HVAC techs can't get out here until tomorrow.
With the rain chances this afternoon, Kaiser won't be riding to work with me today.
For Keith... I see no harm in telling your heart doc about your upcoming ride. I saw a cardiologist several times as follow after my abdominal bypass surgery a few years back, he was supposedly highly regarded, was frequently requested to fly and speak at cardiologist conventions, published textbooks, etc.
Every time we met he told me I needed to take cholesterol medicine, but I declined. (I. He told me he had been on it for 30 years, as a precaution.
(As an aside, but speaking of books, have you ever read The Great Cholesterol Myth by Jonny Bowden and Stephen Sinatra?)
I forgot now why I objected, but I read about the long-term effects and don't want to. Maybe liver damage, or maybe dementia, I dunno.)**
And I thought, "what's he gonna do if I say no -- fire me? Take away my birthday?"
Anyway, if I kick off from a heart attack or a stroke, maybe then I'll admit he may have been right. But he moved to Florida, and I haven't thought about him till just now, thanks to Keith.
I should stop this pontificating and blathering, and tie that fan to the bike.
Hope y'all can find some air flow too, if it's hot at your place.
As I go, I'll leave you with what Jimmy Buffet had to say about doctors, from "Miss You So Badly", 'cuz as you know, EVERYthing reminds me of music...
(Verse 2)
"We're stayin' in a Holiday Inn full of surgeons
I guess they meet there once a year
They exchange physician's stories
And get drunk on Tuborg beer
Then they're off to catch a stripper
With their eyes glued to her "G"
But I don't think that I would ever let 'em cut on me"

**Cholesterol medicines, most commonly statins, are generally safe for long-term use, but potential side effects include muscle aches or weakness, a slightly elevated risk of Type 2 diabetes, digestive issues, and fatigue. In very rare cases, severe muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) or liver strain can occur.
-- Mayo Clinic

And lastly, back to the start of all this (Martin's fault)... remember, they're HERS, not mine. At 6am.

Morning all! Sunny with some high cloud. 12C right now, a high of 24C is predicted. Pretty close to the same prediction as yesterday except we ended up being a bit hotter, 28C according to the temperature gauge on the ST going home.

It was a beautiful ride in today. I decided to take the longer scenic route and avoid the Pat Bay Highway. Only took an extra 10 minutes and I arrived peaceful and content. Might have to take that route everyday.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning Martin & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently @ 10:30AM, it is 86F, heading for 95F. The winds are already active, blowing in from the ESE @ 12mph. Later, they will be blowing in from the SW@ 17 to 29mph.

I scraped, sanded and Kilz'd the front door frame. Today, I'll coat it with the regular paint. I also cleaned out the tractor shed, so I can "reorganize" it, with more of my motorcycle bit & pieces and parts. One issue I've had, from parking the tractor in it, it caused the shed to move about 2". So I connected some long straps to it and pulled it back, using the tractor. After I clean out all the dirt, I'm going to drill some holes into the concrete and bolt it down, so it won't (hopefully) move again.

This evening, Chris and I are joining our neighbors for a Temple Session.

I'll be talking to the hotel gal on Friday, to discuss possibilities with the WeSTOC contract. I'm hoping I don't have to just cancel it all and start over! :cautious:

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast & OJ for the morning start. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
