Seized ST1100 rear brake

Got the Walmart one in

and it works just fine - what a great tool for $37 at WalMart!
I also got to use my 'blind' collet puller as I had another rear wheel bearing go south.

Best $59 from Amazon I've spent in a while - got the ball bearing race out (after the bearing came apart) without an issue!

Looks like account needed at Walmart? Don't really want to do that.

You may not if you use PayPal to check out - but I don't remember.
You can probably find it on EBay or another site - or maybe Harbor Freight or Northern Tool (didn't look there myself).

When using this spreader, should a small amount of fluid be removed from the master cylinder to prevent master cylinder damage?
I didn't as I've never done that when I pushed the pistons back in using 'other' methods.

The pressure is designed to be released into the reservoir through a tiny compensation port. Clean the pistons so that you don’t damage seals pushing road muck past them- and providing you have not topped up the fluid since the brake pads were new, there is no need to take fluid out. If you have topped up, then yes, you need to take as much fluid out as you topped up - cos there’s no room for it.

But I’ve never had the need for one - pistons usually push back Ok with thumb pressure. But I do tend to check them and clean them fairly regularly.
