Helmets Shoei RF-1100

Kudos Tor!

I also have a RF 1000 in desparate need of replacement. The point about a removeable and washable liner by Finalchecker is a good one. Where did you buy it and how much? Would you buy it there again? I must replace my 12 year old Shoei!!!

Take care. :)

I read that the Shoei Qwest is a touring helmet. If so, how does this compare to the RF1100?

I don't know why they called the Quest a "touring" helmet because there are a bunch more bikes with an upright position then just touring bikes but I can tell you that I own an RF-1000 (my past favorite) and an X-11 so when shopping for a new lid test rode the X-12, RF-1100, and Qwest. I now own the Qwest. All of my bikes have an upright riding position, two are nakeds, and the helmet just plain works better, is more comfortable, and is absolutely quieter than either of the other new Shoei helmets. It is more stable when sitting up than any of the past or present RF or X models, it doesn't bobble or pull when doing head checks and my neck is much less stressed at speed on the naked bikes. With the others I always had to order one size thinner cheek pads for a good fit but I have a little over 1K miles on the Qwest now and it fit perfect right out of the box and now feels like it was made for me. I did have the shield whistle common with all three new models when doing head checks but a very slight adjustment of the shield plates eliminated it. I couldn't be happier and would urge anyone considering a new lid to try the Qwest before making a decision. :headbang:

Purchased mine from RevZilla.com during their holiday sale $299 delivered.

I also went with the gradient shield this time instead of the mellow smoke that I have always used. Much better for me since it's darker at the top than the "mellow" to block the sun and clear at the bottom so no problem in changing light or at night.
