Anyone here know how to stop spam calls? They are driving me crazy. Had to deal with 67 of these calls yesterday and they just keep piling on. Medicad BS, talking to robots selling whole life death benefits. Sometimes piling on top of themselves three at a time. Downloaded Active Armor and it doesn't even phase the calls. Got five more calls in the AT&T store after downloading Active Armor before I could even get out the door. I wish I could kick my phone and it would come out the other end on their a$$. Or their nose.
Anyone have an answer?

On an iphone, you can go to SETTINGS > APPS > PHONE.
Scroll down to SCREEN UNKNOWN CALLERS and pick your option.
Scroll a bit further down to CALL FILTERING and turn it on.

You can also add any caller to a blocked caller list on your iphone, if it comes up as a number and not "no caller id." Only good though if they are repeat offenders via the same number. To add them to a block, open recent callers, tap on the "info" symbol, then scroll down to "block contact."

I'd assume Android has similar.

Make sure your number is registered on the do not call list.
That does nothing. Even though there is a Do Not Call list, there are no penalties for calling, and even worse, nobody enforces it. BTW, congress people and senators have complained about the same thing.

UP, did that already. They just keep coming.
Actually, if done properly (at least on the iPhone), you won't get a ring if the number is not in your contacts - the call goes directly to voicemail. The calls will show up in red (unanswered) in your 'Recents' call list. 67 in one day? When I've inadvertently picked up the phone (land line) and gotten a person, I've invited them over to my house so that I can strap 'em to a tree and play lawn darts. They get silent real quick.

Only foolproof way to stop the calls is to put the phone on an anvil and thump it a time or three w/ a 10 lb sledge. Expensive, but it works every time.

I have upwards of 2000 blocked numbers on my phone. That doesn't even slow the spammers down. They keep spoofing (changing) the numbers w/ each call.
I've even seen my own number show up as calling me.
They just have a computer that starts with an area code and exchange then increments the numbers as it dials. ;)

We have that legislation in Canada as well. It turned out that the list turned out to be a great source of known valid phone numbers for the scammers to call. As far as I ever heard it did not achieve much in reducing the number of unwanted calls.

Android has a ‘do not disturb’ setting between certain hours, that you can specify. But, people can get through if you let them know to dial again within a short space of time. If it gets really bad enable that and tell your friends. iPad might have similar functionality.

I've been hearing ads for Incogni, which is supposed to crawl the web for your personal information and remove it.
Surely a paid service, and should not even be necessary...
I haven't looked into it.

iOS (Apple) has the same thing.

I don't block spammers. It's a waste of my time since I'm pretty sure that out of hundreds and hundreds of spam calls I don't think I've ever seen the same phone number more than once. Ever.

Telcos could fix the spoofing issue.

Conspiracy theorist SAYS: Telcos don't want to reduce a money source.

Maybe.

I dunno.

iphone has that "do not disturb" also. You can leave it on all the time if you want.

I let all of them ring till they go to voicemail,
I don't know about Android but with iOS (Apple) you can press either Volume buttons or the Wake/Sleep button to rings and it eventually and silently goes to Voicemail without the caller knowing you've ignored them.

That's what I do on my Android.
