ST 1300 Brake problem

It is actualy 2004, the first registration was in 2005 so they put it as the year of manufakture. It has abs for sure, even front pump is present. All the calipers was cleaned, the rubbers was okay, piston just have somę sort of dirt, no scratches etc. I have already ordered second hand pump.

2005 might be the year of manufacture. It’s a 2004 model because they kept the same spec until 2006. My last ST1300 was an A9 - the 2009 model, but it came off the production line in Sept 2013 .

Good luck with the ABS plumbing - and good news on the state of that middle piston/bore. I didn’t expect that !
 
Signs of a genuine YouTube certified mechanic worked on it before you got it.
It’s a minefield getting a second hand bike. I have just moved from knowing absolutely nothing about my new-to-me Spyder to being a complete novice.
The difference is that I have joined a forum - which uses the same software as this site - and I can recognise the contributors to be ignored. ‘Fit this”, “do that”, “just go ride”.

The latest contribution - my brake fluid hasn’t been changed since new. It has been tested for water content instead. So it needs doing. The manual says the console needs to be connected to an app. The brakes are linked to a stability control system so it distributes the braking force between the three wheels according to which one is about to hurl me sideways. There is one brake pedal - like a car. My right hand is still grabbing air.

So one expert on the forum comments to another member that you can bleed the brake system yourself, just make sure that you don’t introduce any air, because that could result in brakes locking up. Which I am still trying to get my head round. I don’t know whether he is an expert or has learned it on YouTube.

Unless there are 3 independent circuits and air in one = no braking force results in corrective action in the other two.

I’m not seeking answers on here, just describing a change of situation - going from someone who knows enough about my old ST1300 to someone who is a complete novice and will have to rely on the dealers to get it right. The same ones that have let my fluid go unchanged before selling it to me.
