ST1100 bar risers

sfoss

Hi,
I recently purchased my first ST 1100, 95' model and am looking for any info on where I can find a set of Heli bars for it.

I have had a couple of concours and had to raise the bars on them as well.

I really like the ST but was surprised that the Heli bars are no longer in production for the 1100.

Any input appreciated.

I contacted Heli-Bars on this subject a couple of weeks ago. They e-mailed back that they did not have any remaining stock of the old ones but they led me to believe they may have something new comming out. See the e-mail from them below.

"Thank you for your interest in HeliBars?. I am sorry to report that we
no longer have HB9401/HB9411 in stock as this is a discontinued
product. We are introducing a new product in the near future that may
accommodate the ST1100. The cost will be higher than the previous model
cost of $309.00. I am happy to notify you when these are available.
You may also try Ebay or Craig's list to find a used set.

Best Regards,

I sent you a Personal Message. Let me know if you can't open it.

Where are you at in Minnesota? I might be able to work out a deal with you.

I recently put a set of 2" risers on my '01 ST and it really, really changed the ride for me. It was around $50 for the risers from Twisted Throttle I believe

Check out ROX Risers.

I have the ATV Piveting 3.5 inch risers. Fit and finish is great. They have adjustable versions as well I am thinking about the 4 - 5.5 or 4-7. But I will need extending my hoses and cables. The 3.5 is about a as far as you can go with the non abs 1100 and if I am correct the Helibars could be adjusted to around 3 inches.

Re: ST1100 bar risers
You can add about 3" by using BMW K100 bars instead of risers. There is a set on ebay for $15 shipped. You don't need to extend cables and hoses to use these - I have a set on my '99.

I'm looking for something like this myself.
If you go this route, what modifications are required for controls, grips, etc

1) You have to drill a small hole on each side of the K100 bars for the ST1100 controls to lock against.

2) You may have to re-route the brake cable to get a little extra slack depending on where you want to position the bars.

3) The ST handlebar cover will not fit back on over the bars. Use the extra space to mount farkles.

That's it. Real simple install took about 90 mins and I was installing heated grips at the same time. Usual grunting and cursing involved in removing/replacing the grips.

Note: the first pic shows the old stock bars.

Bonus: Sell/give your stock bars to a friend with a Kawasaki Concours - they will extend the stock C10 bars to give ~2" kick back - that's where mine went!

I just put the 3.5 Rox on my 2002 also. Surprisingly to me, I was able to remove the clutch and brake handles with reservoir and thread them to behind the fork. You will need to turn the wheel from lock to lock to make room. Push each all the way down reservoir first, then reverse pulling the reservior first. There is a fork brace in the middle that won't permit bringing up handle first. My accelerator lines are the tightest fit, but I've not changed them to behind the fork yet. I spent less than two hours at a fairly leisurely pace.

Something that I saw on Spotz bike at Moonshine was way cool. Instead of not using the cover, he cut the wings, if you will, off the cover and put some edge trim on it. It looked stock. That gave him the ability to mouint switches for heated gear etc. in the cover. I have some K75 bars that will be going on my 97 and I will be doing this. Maybe Tom will see this and honor us with some pic.:D
