They are Brainy Smurfs for sure, but the issue is that (not being VW-Audi) they are constrained to comply with EPA regs regardless of the affect on driveability. Thus, their work can be improved by backing up the EPA chain a bit. California is worse than 48 state US is worse than Canadian spec. Main jets between Canada and 48US spec is the same and is correct. California mains are leaner.
