The company I work for may have the ability to closely duplicate the 'original' Rackman Highway Wings for the ST1100.
They would be aluminum (no paint) just like the originals.
You would still have to cut your own covers but I could provide some measurements and pictures to help with that.
My questions are -

How many would commit to a set?
What is your 'pain threshold' for price (original ones back in 2004 were about $250 a pair)?

The number of sets would determine the price as the cost of the material would be spread over the number of sets.
And unfortunately, the price of aluminum has skyrocketed over the past couple of years (along with steel).
I plan on dropping a set off I just acquired at the company tomorrow to see if it is feasible and get an idea of the cost.
If you are interested please post in this thread.
Thanks.

Geez, Uncle Phil, I used to feel you were a curmudgeon for tying up the world's known inventory of ST1100 spares and now look at what you've gone and done... :)

I would love a set but cash is tight right now so the pain point is lower for me right now.

Thanks, Uncle Phil, I appreciate the opportunity

Is this for a complete set except the covers?

How much are the PSR pegs? They don't come with covers either.

The '04 price was $250. The covers, at about $40, aren't included. But. The price of labor has risen. The price of material and postage have skyrocketed.

I'm in at $250. I'll reconsider a higher price.

For ST1300 PSR Highway Blades, the cost is $346.95 according to their website.
I would assume the ST1100 version would be about the same price if they still offer them.
And these 'redos' would not come with the covers.

Well, the base of the Highway Wings are 5/8" and our lasers only cut 1/2" as I found out today.
What? No DIY spirit? "Some Disassembly Required" It would be like the old balsa wood/styrofoam airplane gliders or models where you snap the parts off the tree. Cut on the dotted line. How about flipping the stock over and finishing the cutting from the other side? A sabre saw with a carbide blade? Hammer and chisel and belt sander?

How about adaptating our current passenger foot rest (unused) into Short Highway Wings ? They could be screwed / unscrewed from one place to the other, when needed.

They're just long enough to put the back of my heels over them.

Now, where are those aluminum adapters ?
I mean, those who could be made at Uncle Phil's workplace.

With the ever rising price of metal these days, the price point pain being about $250 from what I read and no real robust interest, it is pretty much a 'dead' deal at this point. There would probably be more than $250 worth of aluminum in each set at current prices without any laser cutting or machine work.

I'll leave that up someone else to do.
I was looking at getting them professionally done with the same quality or better as the originals.
There's a lot of machining that has to be done on the base plate so that it fits properly on the tip over bars.
You would not know this unless you had a set in hand to look at.

Did you consider making just the Wings?
We talked about it but with no major interest, the prices would be very high due to material acquisition costs spread over a small number of parts.
And they would only be good for those that already have a set as replacements.

@Uncle Phil , low production runs = expensive. I priced up a one off rear mudguard extender for the VStrom. Wow . I needed a whisky to steady my nerves. Ended up making it myself. Cheap as chips and maybe better. But aluminium is a different animal.

Yep I knew that I was hoping there would be enough interest to justify a half sheet or full sheet of material.
