Just a question..........
I'm just entertaining the idea of parting with our 1991. Very low mileage, around 27000. Very few scratches. LOTS of spare parts. It does need new ignition coils installed (one is dead), which I have. I'm going thru the same symptoms I had when I parted with my herd of classic Hondas.......just sit there looking at it and can't get the motivation to R/R the coils.
It doesn't appear on any collectable/desirable sites and that is my concern over parting with a first (US) model ST.
My question is basically.....is there much of a market for a bike this old? I'll post or not depending on your honored comments.

Form what I have observed, it will sell for a bit more and quicker if it has the 40 amp alternator up grade. My opinion is the ST1100 is one of the best bikes for me, but not really a desire Collector item. That may change in a few years, maybe.

Agreed- 40A alternator will speed the sale, but if it’s not currently running, it’ll knock down your price a bit- can you get it running again? It would be a shame to have it become a parts bike. I guess it depends on someone’s desire to have a low mileage ST with just a bit of work (not sure how labor intensive installing new coils can be), but as sad as it is, these don’t bring big money (no 1100 does these days despite being a fantastic bike). As an owner, you have to decide for yourself if it’s worth the time investment to get it running again vs just getting it sold either as a parts bike or a non runner/repairable bike.

It all depends on if someone is looking for one and the running condition is good.
If it is not running and the bodywork is not in good shape, there is not much value at all.
A top notch low mileage ABSII usually prices around $2000-$2500.
A 91 (without the 40 amp upgrade) not running is probably below $1000.
Additional mods add nothing to the price for a buyer IMHE.
FWIW I bought a 91 non-runner with the 40 amper upgrade a few years ago for $400 because it was reasonably close to me.
