ST1100 offside caliper mounting bolt tool

Hey folks, anyone know what size of Torx key is required to take off the 2x offside caliper mounting bolts part 90107-MT3-003? I begrudge buying 20 different sizes of these as they don't appear to feature anywhere else obvious on the bike, unless someone says otherwise? Thanks. NW

No Torx anywhere on the bike, mine at least. On the fiche that part number looks like simply the upper mounting bolt - 12mm.

Hmmm I'm not convinced, it looks like this. I measures approx 5.5mm from spline to spline.

Looks like a 'whatever I found to fit' bolt installed by someone. I encountered this a while back, torx substituted for what should have been a 10mm allen head bolt. Neither a metric nor US measure torx tool would fit. So, I drove to a small local auto parts shop and the clerk helped me find a tool. Turned out to be an oddball sized head courtesy of early 1980's GM, probably from the previous owner's bench top stash can. I was pleasantly surprised the shop still had one. If you can still drive the bike, you may want to try the same.

Ah glad to see I'm not the only one who's encountered this stroke of genius by a previous owner, I did think this was odd considering the nearside is furnished with Allen heads. Sounds like a plan Obf, two original bolts in the post and a drive to the shop to get these heads silly things removed. Thanks guys!

I've heard mention (elsewhere!) that a Torx can be used to remove a hex/Allen 'if you're careful'. It looks like somebody wasn't.

For Mr Nova Wolf - What the heck is "offside" and "nearside"?

DeanR, good question, in the UK the offside would be the right hand side of a vehicle and the nearside would be the left hand side as it's closest to the kerb...as we drive on the left.
