St11000 Fork Seals

I think your correct looks like they have been installed upside down the woes continue
this is not possible. The caps have a lip around the diameter that is larger than the threaded portion, which rests upon the top of the fork tube when they are fully screwed in. If you turn the cap over its not possible to get the threads to engage.

This should explain it well...

The fork caps are either 17mm hex-bit or 24mm socket. These tools are in the free STOC loaner tool kit (link):

The siphon has been replaced with MotionPro version.

Loosen the bottom 8mm bolts with the forks installed (then the fork caps). Impact tool if necessary, maybe immerse the fork bottoms in hot water (reported). Last resort drill the screw head off (it’ll come off when you hit the copper washer).

FWIW YMMV

Also watch sliding the new seals over the ends of the forks.
You can easily nick them and not know it until you get everything all buttoned nicely ... ;)
They make 'covers' to avoid that which you may want to look into.
Which is why I'm eyeballing the Motion Pro 08-0677 set... (costs more then twice as much over here...)
Currently using masking/electrical tape and or latex gloves... but that applicator kit is really tempting... a slight smear of silicone grease and "thumb!" you're on...

Yep, they have a set of those in Uncle Phil's ST1100 Repair Shop. ;)
They work very nicely and take the hassle out of that part of it.

Hmm… I bought one of those MotionPro fork seal ‘rubbers’/bullets years ago and I remember finding it too thick for the OEM seals from Honda; didn’t want to/couldn’t stretch/force them over the tool… They are designed for INVERTED fork tubes with the grooves on the bottom of the tubes. Just my experience.

Will confirm or debunk your claim once those thingies have arrived and I'm due for another fork rebuild (on any of the vehicles I have to put my hands on...)
