Hi ST Owners,

Gen-Tune is here!!

I am looking for someone who has a broken Honda ST1300 ecu. Below is a list of things I need to get the ball rolling

I know these ecu's have a problem with the code 25/26 knock sensor. I'll like to strip a couple of these down and troubleshoot this issue and hopefully find a solution and future option.

- How common is this problem?
- What year/model are affected?
- What ecu part number has this problem?
- Has any ECU's been repaired?
- Does the dealer offer a software fix for this issue?
- Does the dealer offer any updates for this ecu to fix various problems?
- Has anyone taken their motorcycle to have the dealer reprogram the ecu for recalls?
- Is a performance tune offered publicly and is it proven to work?
- Does anyone have the ECU pinout diagram?

Things I need:
- Donor ECUs
- ECU pinout or complete wiring diagram

I will attempt to depot the ECU and expose the circuit board, then map out a schematic, and attempt to dump the memory from ecu.
If memory dump is successful, then I'll patch the ROM, upload to ecu, and submit for testing.

Beta testing will be done with 5 members. All members must post results to the forum.

Any users who submit a donor ecu will automatically get my service for free if there is success.

Please I am looking for creditable information and for someone with great experience with the ST1300

Thanks again

Welcome in here, @Gen-Tune !
What year is YOUR ST?
My understanding is, the majority of these 2 codes are found in model years before 2008, at which time Mama Honda switched to a different ECU.
At one time, this forum had a community / shared ECU for testing, but I think it has disappeared. :(
I've seen a handful of threads about this, in the last 2 months. Not sure I've seen this issue in 2008 years and later, but it may be possible.

Here's a wiring schematic for the 2003-2007:

Thanks Joe for your response.

Is there a pinout of the ECU which list the signal names and Pin number? The diagrams provided just shows wires going to the ECU but no names.

I've never seen one.

Which is why nobody, or company, has probably been interested in attempting this before.
I agree with the lack of information it makes it tough.

I will have to remove potting material and make a schematic diagram of ECU to connectors.

I've been very successful with Honda Aquatrax ECU, which suffer from the same knock sensor issue. I've gotten about 15 emails within the last 3 weeks asking to look into this.

A member private message me and has a broken ECU he's willing to mail out.

Thanks

Where in Florida are you located? I have one from my 07 I might be willing to send to you.

What's the down side here? If Gen-Tune can figure something out to help with our aging platform bike, they should be able to make a profit from it.
I don't see a down side... and Gen-Tune, I wish you the best of luck with the endeavour.

I'm about 3 times as sceptical as Larry, but I'm equally eager to be proven wrong. Though I will say, it would be much more preferable (and honestly, impressive) to fix the issue, rather than disable the warning.

I'm genuinely looking forward to the day that a member here posts a positive review for Gen-Tune's services... mostly because next week I'm moving to live on a farm. So the odds of my '02 having mice causing Code 25 have dramatically increased...

Larry, please, I am sitting with you on the sceptical seating here... but if there's even a 0.1% chance of this being a proper job... we should facilitate! I'd happily offer more of my time to help Gen-Tune, but honestly, right now (not limited to moving house), time ain't a resource I have.

Also, storing the bike in what used to be an actively used barn... to paraphrase a film, I'm gonna need a bigger bucket! On the plus side, I might be able to rival you on the snake count (though adders are significantly less dangerous than your flavor...).

I would volunteer for the trial. And donate back the ecu that I have when replaced. Right now it only comes on at temps above 80° F and rpms over 4200. I will be making several trips to GA and back in the next few months though so plenty of miles to track.

Or they are simply disabling the FI light, without fixing or correcting the problem, leading folks to believe the ECU has been repaired back to new :think1:
How about we let someone with the experience try to see about fixing the issue before we scare them of with comments making the effort less than desirable.

any more comments like that will be deleted...

This could well work to your advantage, if they can keep small furry squatters from taking up residence in the vicinity of your airbox.
I shudder to think of storing ANY bike in an actual barn.
Here, snakey, snakey...

I'm all for that. Profit isn't a dirty word. Just making sure if the site requires vendors to be listed as vendors etc then folks "know's the rulez."

Also not opposed if it was a member vs a company and they wanted some time, effort and parts compensation.

In a quick Mr.Google search I did see some positive comments about Gen-Tune working with jet ski ECU's. Prices seemed to be $499-ish.

For me, knowing a bit more about a company helps lend credibility to spending one's cash for a fix vs wondering if it's too good to be true.

After 2 mounts
Hop on, hop off, repeat... sounds like quite a light cardio workout to me, and if that fixes the problem, so be it! :hat1:

I'm sorry, I know it was a typo, and I know what you meant... I just couldn't help myself.

Especially as it looks like it all started with one ST-Owners member reaching out to him for help!

Actually, that's what I thought he meant... two rides!
