Looks like all the bits need to be cleaned on that one. Just my personal experience, all plastics off, bottle of simple green, Low (under 1300) PSI pressure washer, a brush and a rag here and there, rinse repeat. Blower to get most water out, wd40 on the electric bits. Don't be in a hurry. A clean bike is a happy bike.

Stop hitting the starter button when the bike is running, or you'll be replacing a lot of very expensive parts!
Remove two screws, use some CRC plastic safe contact cleaner, and spray the switch housing. Your starter button is simply sticking, and trying to keep hitting the starter.

Thanks for the advice on how to clean the switch. I was wondering what cleaners are advised.
Before this happened, I didn't know that motorcycles have a starter clutch, different than cars. I wouldn't have figured out what was happening if I hadn't turned the engine off, then when starting again, finding the start button stuck down.
