Honda Pan ST1300
Bike Honda Pan ST1300 ABS. 2003. Milage 45k. Owned from almost new. Bike is always garaged, cleaned and polished very week !
Prior to the event of not starting the bike has been 100% fine.
Event: Battery flat showing 6V. Replaced battery. No fuel pump priming noise when ignition key turned. starter motor turns engine. Bike will not start.
Tests carried out: Fuel pump fuse checked ok. Checked all fused ok. Checked fuel pump relay and can feel the contacts making and breaking. Bypassed relay and fuel pump works (linking Brown and Black/White wires). Bike still will not start. Switched cut off relay for fuel pump relay - both relay contacts can be felt making and breaking. Removed front top fairing to access tilt switch. Removed tilt switch and tested - ok.
Metza alarm removed several years ago and fitted proper bypass connector and never had any problems.
Tried the 2nd ignition key - bike will not start.
So I have run out of ideas and ask if anyone out there can direct me to where the fault me be coming from.
I have booked my bike in to a Honda dealers on Monday 9th July so if anyone has any ideas I have this weekend to try them out.
Thanks - Adrian.

go right to the fuel pump ( top cover)check for power and grounds while cranking or when key first turned on

Hi I’m having a similar problem that seems to happen only after I ride the bike for about 30 mins. If I wait 10 mins it starts again. Any suggestions?

Al has it right. Go directly to one end of the circuit and trace either back or forward. Once you know the fuse is good, check to see that you have power at the connection to the fuel pump. While the bike does not have that many miles on it, after 15 years anything can go. Two things you can do at this connector - first test as Al suggested. You could also run temporary wires from the battery directly to the fuel pump connector - if it winds up, then the pump is good and you probably have a bad ground, bad relay or some other problem upstream.
