ST1300 issues

Had a 99ST...I got weak and purchased a C-14...had it 2 years...sold it...back to an 05 ST...Happy Camper again....Dave B. Denver

Have an 08. always have fought left side wear, wobble, turbulence terror. when in clean air it was a missle. 14000 miles on bike. Just last week Honda dealer broke down the front end and re- torqued as specified. This bike is rock solid now. I mean it. No joking. Way stable in high winds and dirty air.We will have to wait and see on the left side wear but I bet it went away also. I hope this helps someone as I was at a complete loss......until now.

I also traded in a VTX 1300c for my ST1300. I never want another VTX1300, no power. I ride my ST to work almost every day. 230 miles round trip. Only thing about my ST is after about 1 hour of riding, is butt is sore. I am going to get my seat worked on, I hope this is the fix. I have almost 10,000 miles on her now(ST) I would buy another ST in a heart beat.

1. Tire wear on the left front Too new for me to be an issue.
2. Pulling to the right I haven't experienced that phenomenon at all.
3. Decel wobble I haven't experienced that phenomenon at all.
4. High speed wobble I haven't experienced that phenomenon at all, but I'm not sure if I've had it fast enough to be an issue -- I've only had her up to 95 indicated.

Are there any other issues?

I realize all bikes have their problems (like my VTX)and I guess have 3 questions :

1. If you were to buy again, would you still buy and ST1300 or another Sport Touring such as the FJR1300 or Concours 14 ? I considered all 3, and chose the ST. I made the right choice, I think.
2. Does anyone know if the FJR1300 or Concours 14 have similar issues ? I don't know.

Also, I hadn't realized that the mirrors don't vibrate until the poster above mentioned it! Nice! My left mirror wouldn't STOP vibrating at highway speeds on my Shadow 1100.
I installed the bar risers shortly after I got the beast. I love the mirrors and the view with the risers and "no" vibration. I would buy again, no question.

The ST1300 remains the best choice. There are no problems if maintained properly--which means that the owner can do it all 99% of the time. Trouble free. I have never had high speed wobble in 83,000 fast miles. Comfort, performance, design, handling are excellent. A great choice, a great buy, a great bike. Other bikes may have a superior feature or two but not as many as the ST1300.

A lot of great comments, I have owned my '03 since Jan of this year and it has been a great bike. The only thing I can add regards warranty, I'm the second owner, the original owner bought and extended warranty. The windscreen cable had an issue, I took it into the dealer and the whole assembly was cheerfully replaced under warranty.

I would most certainly buy another. It is my daily commuter and very reliable. Also, 50+ mpg when on long highway trips. Pretty impressive for a bike that will go 0-60 in 3.1s and 141mph top speed.

havnt found a better bike, did 42000k on my first 03,and now on my second,05, and have done 110000km on this one,all trouble free, apart from thermostat replacement on the 05,and a wheel bearing.have used avon storms, for last 6 changes,I get 17-18k,out of rear, and about 20-21 from front.a great bike, might get another, and I have rode the fjr1300 ,a better sport bike, but the st far better tourer

I have been riding a VTX1800F model since 2005 and after a tiresome hot lap on California's Highway one I felt that I needed, no wanted, something that was "sporty" in the turns. Those that have ridden HWY 1 know what I mean. The VTX is a great cruiser but is heavy in the turns, the rake, angle long wheel base plus overall weight on the front end makes you man handle the bars to get through tight turns. The frame bracket under the shift lever on the left will hit on a hard left turn and makes my shorts wad up.

My ST1300 is still new to me but WOW! I just look in the direction of the turn and I'm thru it. Much more power available than the VTX and the low end torque makes it great in traffic. I wont compare smoothness for obvious reasons but compared to a HD both bikes are a dream.

No issues with anything so far.

Love my ST, it's like a Farrari with two wheels in performance and smooth and quiet as Lexus down the highway.

Can it get and better than this?
