Article [13] ST1300 - Quartet Harness Installation

Great stuff.
Trying to straighten out the heated grips on my 10 ST that PO had Honda grips then changed brands and cut wires. Wanted to do the Dual Star mod and also add power to GPS and radar.
Searched and found this great source.
Thanks again ST-Owners!

Thank you sir, I couldn't locate DuelStar units so went with Symtech(?) and worked great with that diagram! :)

Funny think I got up to 170 deg on high, but couldn't really feel my at speed unlike on my VFR??? I would think the ST's great wind protection would equal even better hand warmth. Guess could be the brand of aftermarket windscreen dumping more/extra air on my hands?

I have no problem at all feeling the warmth on my grips - even when on the first low setting. They are Oxford heated grips. I do notice that if I take my hand off for a few seconds (letting the wind cool my hand and the grip) it takes maybe half a minute before I feel the heat after putting my hand back on the grip.

points of note.
you dont need to go that far with the lead you can chop the plugs off and use solderseal connectors to devices.
If adding a cigarette socket do not use it for a air pump they can blow quartet fuses
cut the side tabs off the pocket and insulate the outside with thermalwrap or similar and cable ties to reduce pocket heat if you do this be aware of the quartet and rectangle connector as they can get in the way with the pocket being thicker or skip removing the tabs wrap around it and put the connector back in its holder. save the black and 9 pin connector for devices that need 3 wire positive negative and switched items like camera systems these use the switched to detect when to turn off which avoids file corruption from sudden power loss

I have now an St1300 from 2008. It had not the quartet harnas. On my 2006 st1300 I had the harness, so I thought i plug it in the newer bike. Did not work. The connector on the bike did not have all the pins wired. I had to make an grounding and one wire that switches from the contact had to wire it together to make it work. Now it is oké, but their are differences apperently.
