So this is my first St1300. Bought it from my father who bought it new. 2006 41,xxx miles always been worked on at Ted's Harley Davison dealership. Recently I diagnosed the voltage rectifier as failed. Being very a DIY kinda guy and a certified AUTOMOTIVE tech I decided to do this myself, teds claimed it to be a 3 to 4 hour job which helped that decision. After reading these threads I saw there are two methods from the top or from the front. I chose the from the top. I removed the throttle bodies and was able to remove the rectifier without removing the Alt. Today I got it all put back together and got it started with no real effort. However the F1 is on and flashing (8 times). I have not YET found the trouble codes for this bike if anyone knows what 8 short flashes mean.

However my real question; it idles perfectly, smooth and at the same rpm as before. BUT when I touch the throttle it will stall. Any ideas? Throttle body valves all move together and evenly with no real slack in the linkage.

This is my first stop to see if anyone off the top of their head knows exactly what this is. But I'm going to look at the linkage as that was the only thing I was not positive about (how they are routed) I marked the top and bottom so it's not that but I routed the top over the top of the linkage and the bottom under the linkage. Are they both supposed to be over the top? Other thought would be TPS. Only other notable fact would be i inteded to just crank it over, i had drained the gas tank and not yet put fuel in it but it fired up anyway. Possibly enough fuel to idle but not rev?? (Somehow the guage has two of the dashes so little under a quater tank) Please pardon my ignorance. Thank you for sharing any experience you may have!!

8 blinks is TP sensor, did you plug it back in? :p See this article:

Get a copy of the service manual if you want to work on the bike, it includes useful nuggets like the FI flash codes (above) and the fact that the bike has two fuel tanks :)

This is a common mistake most folks make.
The blue connector should not be in this position.

I thank everyone for the responses. I've begun to wonder if the FI light is intended to indicate what sensor you forgot. As "you forgot to plug it in" is a very common response on this site. Lol.

THE ACTUAL ISSUE WAS: In my rebuilding portion connectors were the very least of my worries. In automotive experience pigtails are very unlikely to be able to be mixed up. Well in this bike the MAP sensor and the TPS are the same but a different color. This was my only issue. These connectors and their sensor are pictured for future references. BLUE is the TPS, GREY is the MAP. Also pictured is the correct routing, took it so I didn't mix anything up lmao.
