Does anyone know what size the steering stem nuts are? I would like to buy a spanner socket from Snap-on or Mac but I can't find the size. The Honda tool is not cheap.
I think it is a 42mm.
I think it is a 42mm.
Thanks for the offer Joe.
I would borrow the tool but I'm looking to buy one. 4 (possibly 5) out of the 7 machines we currently own have the same size.
Oddly enough, I've never noticed this before, but nut sizes aren't on the manual or not where I can see them.
I have a PN 07916-3710100 which I believe will work for the ST1100/ST1300/GL1800 and several other Honda models.

Yep, that is the one. The one I ordered came in today. Retail was $59.00. I didn't pay that.
Depending on your relationship with your dealer it can be had for between less then $50 to the list of $59. (sorry about being vague on what I paid - my dealer doesn't really what me being exact when it comes to the discount they give me.)
...and Tom, I am going to scream - the 1 11/16 for $20. I'll bet they are the same size. Do you have a service manual for the VTX? Is the Honda PN the same? (listed earlier in the thread)
This would help save chipSTer some
I have read that a 1-5/8 can be made into the tool if you want to take the time to cut the notches out But the 1-11/16 did the job for me without that hastle.
