Mornings, coffee is on the pot.
Brand is Green world, ecological and soforth.
It’s good, it works.

Endless heavy wind here, 45mph now, from southwest, heavy showers.
There’s an orange warning for severe high tide, so better go check the boat.

The weekend on Mosterøy, with the friends of Mrs Stu, was ok, but I’m better off at home.
The ferry trip was not nice, but it only lasted for half an hour.

Have a good one, don’t be as grumpy as I am!
Stu

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Green World brew-up, Stu. That photo perfectly captures my vision of a Norwegian bathing beach, probably because I'm catastrophically ill-informed and massively ignorant of the reality.

It's 40°F in Rockville, going to a sunny 72 later on. That'll be perfect for today's goof outing.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thanks Stu.
Neve owned an ocean- going vessel... what do you do to prepare for higher tide, loosen the mooring lines?
(Green Grass and High Tides, by the Outlaws, is the first song coming to mind, but it doesn't talk about boats at all.)
I know we never had to deal with that natural act when I lived on a sub.
But our weather week in Birmingham will remain dry, and slightly warmer, until this Saturday.
Of course, for our Basic RiderCourse, it's supposed to rain most of Saturday, and all day Sunday.
What fun that will be!
Better start now, assembling the water- deterrent clothes that I can quickly put on and take off.
And all this time preparing, reading and answering test questions... Not until now have I thought to check the weather.
Oh, boy.
If you've not been to a riding class, the MSF BRC involves a LOT of getting on and off the bike. Each of the 14 lessons is between 20 and 40 minutes.
First we listen to the RiderCoach explain the lesson, then we ride the lesson, then we all dismount and debrief the lesson.
Rinse.
Repeat.
And it looks like there will be a lot of rinsing.
Can't believe I never thought about the weather til just now.
We haven't had any rain in about 2 weeks, so I've gotten used to taking it for granted.
Things change...

Morning all, and thanks for the stormy brew, Stu.

4C for the ride in under clear, dark skies and a full moon (I think.) Ride home should be a cloud / sun mix at 14.

Arrive home last evening from the Thing2 adventure weekend. Two days and $1K down the drain, with likely another $1k in upcoming car repairs for her brake system. I wasn't expecting anything other than tires, so that's what I went mostly prepared for. Not sure how kids today are supposed to support themselves, let alone get ahead and put away for the future. Glad I"m not doing this growing up thing all over again!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Stu.

Ho-Hum. Another sunny day ahead..
It's clear and 28f/-2c, rising to 69f/20c and remaining cloud-free.
One could get used to this.

We did take a ride down to Mystic, CT, but didn't get to park and walk their Main St. There was a parade going on when we arrived, so we continued on toward home via back roads. As I expected, the fall colors hadn't peaked, but the colors were still nice.
We saw plenty of bikes on the road, and I tried hard not to grit my teeth.

Today, I'll try for a gym visit, and some work around the yard. I should trim my hedges, and move the mulch to the town's.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

That was poor planning on their part- they obviously held the parade in your honor but screwed up the timing so you couldn't participate.

G'mornin' from SoMD! It's been a few, but I'm not worried that you're not worried. I've been sufficiently caffeinated all this time, so no trip to the pokey. It's been sunny and mild the last week or so, and shall continue through this week...unusually dry for this time of year. 43F/6C when I dragged the recyclables out to the curb, headed to a balmy 69F. Thanks for the shots, Stu!

The play is fine. I finally get my nights and weekends back. Light attendance but I expected it, it's a completely new show done in black box. So, it's hard to capture interest. It was primarily a personal goal for the playwright to have it produced, so he's happy. Now, on to other things. Saturday was two shows and clear out, so yesterday was literally a day of rest. I did just about nothing and it was great! The Prince Of Purrrsia got fed on schedule (of course) but then I crawled back in and slept until after noon! 😮 I awoke and immediately felt dread over the time I lost to get stuff done...then realized I had nothing that needed done! WHEW! The office ceiling fan was wobbly so I took a crack at balancing it. I usually overthink this, but instead I just took a guess and taped a quarter on one of the 5 blades. 20% chance...and I hit! Why aren't I this lucky at the tables?!?

Today is WFH. Was going to donate blood at noon but stomach is still not that great after last night's, errr, issues from the exhaust end. Rescheduled for Nov 5th. Need to do laundry to de-theaterodorize the clothes I wore for costumes. Other than that, need to practice for our upcoming jazz concert on Wednesday.

"mph"? I thought y'all were metric, or are you just catering to us Westerners?

Ayup, it's unusual here too. But it does make for easier leaf pickup...if I ever bother to.

Take care y'all!

Morning all! Mostly cloudy here though there is some blue sky peeking out here and there. 9C right now, 12C for a high later.

Steve, I know up here Canadian Blood Services says a year post declaration that cancer is gone. I don't know that you can age out for donating. I think there is an age limit for people donating for the first time but not sure after that.

Obo, I agree, I think kids have it much tougher to get started these days than when we did. Mine are constantly fretting about whether they will be able to afford a house and are talking about possibly moving to small towns. It's pretty bleak. One of the biggest downsides is that cities lose their vitality and energy.

Was meeting a couple of lads from the projects I work on for drinks on Saturday afternoon and ran into massive traffic jams everywhere in town. Apparently, an abandoned Travel Lodge went up in flames the night before and was still being fought/contained on Saturday. You could smell the smoke pretty much everywhere.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Does one age out for donating?
Nope. There's a minimum age and weight limit, no max. There's a list of medications and time periods ARC uses for deferrals. Some are permanent but I don't know which ones. I have a well-aged friend (the aforementioned playwright) who recently restarted giving thanks to me. He's 78 I believe.

Plus, they're always giving out rewards. not so much t-shirts anymore, but $10-20 gift card promos. Check their site and your locality for details. If anyone follows me, you know I'm a regular giver and always encourage donating if you can. Stats aren't very solid bc of reporting, but while 38-62% of Americans are able to donate, about 3-5% actually do.

Afternoon Stu, & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 59F, up from a low of 33F, and the high today will be 61F. Next storm is scheduled for Saturday. We'll see. :well1: The winds have been blowing from the SSW @ 11 to 20mph.

The ground is still very wet & muddy. It'll probably take a couple of days to dry out.

Chris made it home from her Quilt Retreat in ST George, right after I got home from the store. It was a good thing I stopped and picked up some lunch for us. :)

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
