Sturgis Ride Together 2023

I am thinking of making my first ST1300 trek to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this summer.
The dates are August 4th - 13th

The ride would start in Southern California and travel to Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Yellowstone National Park, Custer Battleground in Montana and then on to Sturgis. I would also plan to take a side ride over the Mt. Rushmore.

If anyone would care to join me anywhere along the route, we can travel and camp together. Or, just meet up in Sturgis.

Please LMK if anyone is interested in joining me on this adventure.

Hi Jay,
I did a similar ride a few years ago, coming from MA, and hit many of the same places that you've got planned. You'll have a blast! I was told to see the Crazy Horse monument as well, but I was already beyond it
I passed through Sturgis a couple of weeks before the rally, so I missed the excitement. It looked very cruiser-oriented, and the whole town seemed set up for the rally.
That said, I was just down to Daytona during their bike week, and I saw quite the mix of other bikes.

I went to Daytona Bike Week once with my sportbike club. Reminded me a lot of New York City, crowded and interesting at times.
In the case of both, I can say BTDT, didn't leave anything there I'll ever need to go back for. But I have had to go back to NYC a few times since, for work and then once fire a friend's wedding.
With that in mind, I imagine Sturgis will be a lot like that, so I don't feel the pull.

That said, I have been to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Badlands, Yosemite and Jackson Hole, and the trip and the area are spectacular.

Bucket list Item, Ride to Sturgis during bike week...☑️complete. Don't know why I wanted to do it. Everyone said I was nuts. Probably was, but it was a bucket list thing. Days are getting short, and I didn't want to be laying there in a bed some day thinking, Man, I wish Id done that just once...

Funny, but when I looked around to buy a T-shirt, all they had were cruiser T-shirts. Not even one that said "Sturgis, SD" or something
Not my thing...
