......... and it was bald - and I mean BALD.
That's not BALD- I can still see rubber on it!

Doesn't BALD mean that all of the rubber has been consumed?
I was caught short one time as well- see below pic. Thankfully I got away with it that time. You are correct in that it is surprising sometimes how quickly the remaining rubber disappears- much more quickly than you expected it would.

Nice videos.

OMG Andrew, that is a BALD tire! You are very lucky it didn't blow out. Thanks for sharing your photo and experience.

This is one of my first posts so if I break some protocol please go easy on me.
Burn the heretic at the stake!

(But seriously, welcome. Nice even wear on that "bald" tyre of yours. It's almost as if you weren't even trying... :nanana1: )

Well dang. Just put some 31s on the bike. Hoping for more mileage than the Angel gt.
Had 8200 on them.

Back of the Dragon on-bike video
Starting at Hungry Mother State Park and ending in Tazwell. 32 miles and 300+ turns they say. A very nice ride!
Welcome to the forum, Brian. I rode the Back of the Dragon a few years back too, so really enjoyed your videos. Thanks for sharing.
And, your post is just fine....

Thanks for the warm welcomes and for not burning me at the stake.

I SHOULD have replaced mine at 6000 miles but went 7000 just for the cool pictures... :p

Glad folks liked the video!

Cheers

I just got back from West Virginia and my rear T30 is ready to be replaced after 3000 miles. I have never gotten more that 5400 miles out of a rear on my 1300. My bike always wears the left side of the tire way more than the right. I am not sure why that is? Here in NY they typically construct roads with a crown in the center, so left hand curves are typically a little off camber. Maybe that is the reason? In WV and western NC, the roads I have been on a often banked to the inside, which of course is much more fun!

The T31's seem to wear better. More evenly too.

My last rear was a Shinko Verge, which also went 3000 miles. I was generally happy with the Shinko, except it went from "that tire is getting a little worn" to steel showing in very quick order. Something I also found true of Angle GTs. I will probably go with the T31's since I love the way the way other Bidgestone's have handled and the price is pretty good. Thanks

I have just put on 8000 miles on my set of T31’s. Still have lots of tread left. I have surpassed last year with only 7200 miles on the rear before hitting the wear bars

I just put the T31's on this past weekend. Only 200 miles on them so far but my first impression is good!

My T30 GT EVO's had 12,400 on them and on the wear bars. With fall temps coming no reason to push those any farther.

Will follow up after I get some K miles on them. Most likely next year.
I ride 1 up all the time with occasional use of the Unigo.

Is this on the rear too?

I just changed out my T31 rear, at about 7,000mi. It wasn't yet down to the wear bars, but going on a 1,500+ mile trip next week and no-way it had that much left.
I ride solo, always 42/42psi, and have never gotten over about 7,000mi from the T30/31s. The fronts go about double that.
Maybe I'm just riding too aggressively, but isn't that the point of riding an ST ?.

But I'm sticking with the T31s, because I love the way they handle and they're not expensive ($128 for the rear at Rider's Domain).

I ran Shinko 011's front and rear last year.
I have a little over 9000 miles on them.
These tires still look very good compaired to the new set sitting beside the ST, do not look to be even half worn.
I will run these next year and see what the total mileage is.
They handle well, ignore tar snakes, no slip or slide in a few downpours, and give a good ride.
