The New CalSci Quality???

I read somewhere that the owner had turned the business over to his son and things have been down hill since. Don't know if it's true but I did read it on the internet.

I have one of their windshields on my Goldwing, but I bought it (the windshield) used and the quality is fair. It's thicker than most which gives it a different look around the edge. I'm happy with it.

I hope you can get some satisfaction. Reading your experience here is the complete opposite of mine with Clearview.

I called Clearview to order my windshield an had a nice conversation with the owner, Craig. He explained the different features/options available, the timeline for delivery, and helped me choose the shield that met my needs. He followed up my order with emails informing me of the progress and when the shield was shipped. The shield arrived in a large box, stuffed with foam rubber filling and the shield was wrapped well to prevent damage. The finish of the shield met all my expectations.

I'm not affiliated with Clearview; just a satisfied customer that appreciates good customer service and a quality product. If CalSci doesn't make things right for you I'd recommend you check out Clearview.
I had a similar experience with Clearview. I recommend them as well.

The quality of that shield is terrible! I cant believe the edges, and ridges they left...I dont blame you for being upset.I would ask for a refund if I were you. FWIW, I just put the big clearview on my 1300 and am very happy with the whole experience.
Great company/product/shipping/etc. It is a "Barn Door" Though. This thing is HUGE !

Ouch just got off the phone with him. Not looking good but stay tuned.....

You can't just throw that out there and walk away. Details, my good man!

Well i guess its not that bad...just fighting over return shipping.

Him: short rude response and just told me to send it back with a note.
Me: i have to pay the shipping back?
Him: I need to see pictures of how bad it is if im going to pay the shipping back
Me: i told him i sent him pictures last week on Jul 25th
Him: Silence for a few moments.......I do vaguely remember looking at them now that i think about. (so he just ignored the email, lol)
Me: Just let me know, ill pay it if i have to...i just want out.

Waiting on response which i doubt will come. I do sound like a softy but i really find it fascinating on seeing how well or poorly a business is run.

Thats a sad way to run a business, for sure. It would have been a great opportunity for him to provide much better customer service than was expected, and he would have good PR,as opposed to bad feedback, etc.
These days with internet chat groups, etc. its just not worth it for a company to provide bad service. Word gets around pretty fast!
Rick.

That's most unfortunate, not great customer service at all. I wonder if it was Mark or his son, or an employee. Not that it makes a difference, poor customer service is usually from a company's culture and those at the top are responsible for its presence and or changing it. Sorry you're taking a hit (even if they meet your terms they dropped the ball on how they are handling it)on what was a great product that helped with the back pressure I experienced on my bike with the stock shield.

no response, sending back on my own dime. im guessing i get no refund so a credit card call will have to be made.

another note i forgot to mention is he shipped this to me usps, but there is an old ups label on it addressed to him so that means this same shield went to another chump who returned it, lol.

OP is handling this better than I would be. Good luck.

I can't say enough nice things about Clearview. Bought two shields new from them. Previous bike and current bike both had on Clearviews when I bought them. All have been great. When I got smashed by hail in Deadwood I called them immediately. They had a shield ready to go when another stowner member got there. He loaded it up and brought it back to me in GA. Saved a ton on shipping. They didn't have to do that. They went out of the way to help me.

And just to be clear. I rode from Deadwood SD to North Georgia without a windshield. Interstate all the way. It was nasty.

This is unfortunate that the seller chooses this route to take. Thanks for keeping us informed. It may help another forum member in the future

He probably just reused the box.

Paid $200+$18 shipping, had to pay return shipping of $19.89, and finally he just refunded me $200 total. What a terrible businessman. Karma will get him...watch and learn.

This experience was literally the exact opposite i had with Dustin at Mag-Knight tank bras. Ordered a carbon look st1300 tank bra, they used a new source for the material and the carbon started de-laminating so he immediately sent me a matte version...no charge..no fuss.

Sorry to hear it turned out bad for you, but your account here may save someone else from experiencing the same. Most merchants are good to customers; it's a shame the relative few that aren't are unable to figure out the value of a satisfied customer.

ClaSci Update -- 8/18/20.
JUST got a "Medium" replacement Shield
delivered for my '07 ST1300.
It fits perfect, cuts & finish are good, and it has better airflow than the stock one.
So - guess they are still doing some of them right.
