Yesterday I rode 410 miles to the Last Ride Of The Year in Stockton AL, starting out at 37 degrees. Looking at Post #1, I've tied with
@DannoVT unless he's found colder weather, and if VT stands for Vermont, then I'm sure he has. Left at 7:30am, home by 5:30pm. No
I wore Matrix 2 boots, Carhartt winter socks, Under Armor base layer under cargo pants under Olympia Air mesh pants (couldn't put my hands on my Belstaff solid pants), up to a long sleeved t-shirt under a Warm and Safe heated jacket under a Belstaff Discovery riding jacket, and the Warm and Safe heated gloves.
You'll have to guess as to my skivvies, but if you're really interested, then I don't wanna know about it.
Under my Neotec 2 helmet, I wore a Duluth skull cap, my beard, and a neck gaiter like Itchy Boots, but non- branded.
On the ST1300 were a saddlebag with 2 extra upper layers which weren't needed due to the heated jacket, but brought along anyway because I'm a chicken.
A tool tool was in the other saddlebag, with rain gear.
The windscreen was almost all the way up, almost all day, speeds were often 70-75 mph on the 2- lane back roads with almost no traffic at all.
The ride was mostly pleasant, my toes got a little cold a couple times, but my hands were fine, never got cold or even chilled, and I'm glad to have all I needed to stay warm.
Few things in life I dislike more than being really cold.
And fewer things in life I love more than day-tripping on a fine, well-running motorbike.
Even if I'm not not in the Top 10 on this list.
