This morning it was 56 degrees when I started the bike heading out to the gym.I normally let one bar show before riding off but after couple minutes still nothing, so I hit the road. Finally after about 2 miles one bar,and then reaching the gym after 5.5 miles it showed 2 bars.Coming back 2 hours later and temp at 60 it finally showed 3 bars just one block before arriving home.Is my thermostat bad?Bike is 9300 miles. It's an '05 I bought Aug '07 with 790 miles.I usually show 3 bars after a couple miles.I went ahead and ordered thermostat and gasket from turbocity. Now I'll have to read the procedure here on the forum if I can find it.I remember someone saying that the instructions in the shop manual were not good and involved lots of extra work....:(

Sure sounds like it... it should warm up just fine after a couple miles ...

Sounds like a stuck thermostat to me. Mine goes to 3 bars in about 2 minutes, even when the temps are only in the 40s.

Phil is probably right, the Turbo City thermostat may take a bit longer to reach one bar but that simply means it's starting to open a little sooner. No biggie!

Rule #1: If your ST1300 won't reach 3 bars and stay at 3 bars then there is something wrong with the thermostat.
